So I'm going to be starting Uni at the start of next year and I was wondering if I should get a part time job before/throughout it. It wouldn't be for the fees though, as I was lucky enough to get a scholarship that pays for basically all of my essentials, so it'd be just for savings and spare cash.

So I was wondering if you guys think it's worth it or if it'd cut too much into my social life and studying?

    do it

i had 2 part time jobs until this week, i just quit one because i'm going back to school

but having one while also going to school is gonna keep spending money in your pocket and help keep you busy, unless you really don't have time

if it hurt your grades, don't

Having extra money isn't gonna hurt
As long as the job isn't taking over your social life or messing with your academic work go for it !

Sure go for it.. like Cain said, if it doesn't interfere with your social, or daily activities..then by all means, go for it!

i wish i wouldve done this my first two years in college. i was so broke and useless. i feel like it would've helped me get my priorities straight instead of just being broke and partying. a part time job that isnt stressful or demanding would be perfect.

When you get to college, work on campus, put a little cash in your pocket, most importantly, meet the best b------s on campus.

It won't hurt to have some money. But don't do it if it affects your grades. I worked for most of my University degrees. But then found the beauty in scholarships in later half of it which allowed me the ability to not have to work. I worked in the summers as well to help pay off tuition (In Canada here, so this is basically impossible for you guys down in the States).

I had a back up to my current career choice though so I had to keep the GPA up. I didn't socialize as much as one would want but it gives some better options for if I go back to get into the backup program.

i work part time and go to a community college. The money pays for all my driving and other expenses. It doesnt conflict with my schooling but when i transfer to a 4 year college im not sure if that will still apply

Seeing as you do have a scholarship and you have a little free time other than socialization with your friends and studying I think you should. I was lucky enough to have an interview during my school orientation and got the job the same day so I know I was set and it was a job that on my downtime I could study for a good 2 hours. Best thing to do is get a job on campus, me and my friends found a lot of our networking abilities in doing that.
