Mar 25, 2017 You're still not looking at the entire picture: Sales + Radio + Streaming. Drake bested Eminem in the 2013-2014 era when it was NWTS vs MMLP2. Drake had 1.4796% of the market share for those two years. Eminem had 1.1055% of the market share for those two years.
Mar 25, 2017 if recovery had single streams counted for sales and not leak 3 weeks prior release it would've been plat easily 1st week
Mar 25, 2017 His first album didn't go number 1 and he didn't have a number 1 single until 8 mile. Why does everyone think radio played him so much? You dont have platinum selling singles that peak outside the top 10 unless radio isn't playing your s---. Go look at the charting positions. Drake is already the record holder for hip hop #1s -- he has way more than Em
Mar 25, 2017 And again, just stressing this because I think it's a pretty big deal: Drake's music constituted a bigger percentage of the music industry in 2016 than any artist ever has. And the same goes for the decade as a whole.
Mar 25, 2017 Yeah, Eminem is no slouch on the radio, but he's always been a very sales heavy artist. Still amazing that that song with the dog puppet got radio play at all though, lol.
Mar 25, 2017 em had how many no1 ? drake had 1 em sold 300 million records , there is no point arguing vs em
Mar 25, 2017 I suppose I make it sound like he was a ghost on radio but it's not like that. He was played a lot on some but not mainstream middle american stations with Christian values (again just a generalisation). I mean you had big sponsors threatening to pull funding because of Eminem's content. He was heavily protested. Even the president blamed him for society's issues and gun violence. When Kanye stole Taylor's moment at the VMAs and Obama called him a jackass -- did that make him popular? h--- no! Everyone hated Kanye! He was famous as f--- though
Mar 25, 2017 I'm surprised nobody has brought up features yet. I don't generally count features. But features is another area that Drake washes Em on. What are some of Em's biggest hits that he's featured on? Forever? Smack That? Those are the only two that come to mind at the moment. Maybe "Forgot About Dre". Drake's had quite a few big ones as a featured artist. But I don't actually count those though. I think it would be a little unfair.
