Mar 25, 2017 I have no idea what you are talking about Look at what kind of music was in at the tim 1. SSLP 2. MMLP 3. TES 4. 8 Mile OST. And Em didn't have any of those people to worry about in his peak. Maybe Nelly and ja Rule, but how many units were DMX and Kanye pushing in 2000? Lol. His biggest competition was Britney spears
Mar 25, 2017 A soundtrack isn't a studio album, and Kanye sold almost 900k first week, my point is eminem was surrounded by much better artists when he was in his prime, and toy mentioned Britney Spears well I did say not just rappers
Mar 25, 2017 Kanye wasn't around in 2000 (not counting him as a producer). Fair enough. But DMX went 6x platinum in 2000 with 'And Then There Was X' and released another album in 2001 that went 3x platinum. And both albums went #1.
Mar 25, 2017 I called it a studio release which it obviously is. I didn't say itnwas an album, I said it was his 4th major label release.
Mar 25, 2017 Yes and Eminem has two diamond albums in virtually the same time period. No contest. Eminem was the biggest rapper in the world at the time without any hiphop competiton. I am not denying that.
Mar 25, 2017 Just thought it was worth responding since you made it sound like DMX wasn't doing much. 6x platinum and back to back #1 albums are competition. Not to mention DMX was in several big movies and won AMA's for Favorite Rap Artist in both 2000 and 2001.
Mar 25, 2017 Lmaooo Y'all have been arguing for 15 pages that nobody in history even comes close to being as big as Em and as soon as I give the guy a compliment and say he was in a league of his own suddenly I am absurd. Ya just can't win
Mar 25, 2017 In hindsight tho, he was in a league of his own. At the time everyone was selling well. DMX was selling 700k in his first week.
Mar 25, 2017 I'm not one of them that be arguing about that stuff. I like to give credit, and I know for a fact eminem had competition. Kanye west even beat out eminem for rap album of the year at the Grammys, and that's the only time eminem lost that category
Mar 25, 2017 That was like in 2004 or 2005? We aren't even talking about then. Kanye was just a producer when Em was in his peak
Mar 25, 2017 Of course. Even years before that he said "Only dudes movin units is Em, p---- Juice, and us". p---- Juice being Nelly for the people who were born after 1999.
Mar 25, 2017 My point was there was more people selling records back then. Meaning more comp for eminem. When it comes to Drake there's only like 2 other rappers that sale over 200k first week J.Cole, and Kendrick. Also Kanye never did a million first week, so jay was wrong, but still love the song though
Mar 25, 2017 Kanye never did a mil first week but he was competition for eminem? What are you even trying to argue my man?
Mar 25, 2017 When Eminem new album comes out and sells more than Views then are u gonna think d--- why did I say this?
