Jan 3, 2019 Yeah, this may work if you’re a local comedian but if you’re as big as Louis C.K., you have people traveling from all over the world to see you perform. It’s a lot harder to assess your audience when you have people traveling to come watch you. Your point could easily be flipped too. Louis C.K. has always told offensive jokes, if you’re easily offended, don’t watch him perform.

A joke from a comedian is a joke... not a political statement if it's not funny then it's not funny. If it's funny then it's funny. CK asked adults for permission to touch himself. R. Kelly has spent 30 years going from city to city raping 13 year olds. Wish we had perspective.

Jan 3, 2019 The problem for Louis is that people expected him to go away and he did for a brief amount of time but now he's back and isn't holding back. But that's how comedy works, especially stand-up. Comedians might lose sponsors, TV shows, movie roles but they'll always have the road. What matters the most about a bit is whether or not it's funny. Whether it's offensive or not, if it's funny, it works. To me Michael Richards is the barometer. He went apeshit and screamed racist s--- out of anger, he wasn't trying to be funny. The goal is to always be funny, always go for the next laugh.

Jan 4, 2019 I just hope people understand that if it seems like he's all over the place its intentional. comedians routinely say all kinds of s--- on stage and what sticks is what they use for future shows or comedy specials. a perfect example and a clever one was when dave chappelle did this on Netflix recently.

Jan 4, 2019 Hormones and surgery aren't exactly rare in the trans community. It's a lot easier to express agency about your gender perception when you're in a position of some power. Somebody beaten down during a 40+ hour work week probably doesn't have time to read on queer theory or write a blog about their gender dysphoria. They don't have much of an interior life at all. Of course, that isn't to say you can't find examples of gender dysphoria in less decadent societies. In Thailand they're referred to as "kathoey". In Native American communities they call them "two-spirit".
