Drake, who embraces his "feminine" side (also known as "having feelings" by functional, progressive members of society), is probably the most popular rapper in the world right now. I don't think this is really an issue.

It's such an antiquated view to have a problem with rappers showing emotion or being "feminine." Sometimes I want to listen to something hard like Mobb Deep. Sometimes I want to listen to something soft like Drake. It all depends on my mood and the situation at hand.

No trouble at all. No one is better at talkin s--- about cole than jcolenation. I just thought it was funny that you used this song to prove your point, since this song is about the internal struggles he has. The exact ones youre referencing.
He wants to be knowledgable and has good intentions but at the end of the day even he is overpowered by lust amongst other things. So he shows self awareness about what you're criticising him for. This is reocurring in his career actually. See what i mean?

I misunderstood if that's what he meant, but yes i think that was the point of the song. Self awareness

Drake's a better overall artist than a Young Thug, i think he seperates himself from that category. and yea i do listen to other music that's softer like R&B and such, i balance it out from time to time.

I like Lights Please (A LOT more than most (its one of my favorite cole songs to put on)) but I have a problem with it content-wise tbh...

yes its self aware, but it also kind of demonizes women doesnt it? like...he paints himself as this guy who could do it all, be a mensa inductee on his way to manning the first ever habitable space station on the moon (designed and constructed single-handedly by him)...if it wasnt for women

seems a bit too simple to me lol

i know the usual colenation comeback is "well look at all the songs he does give women their due credit!!" but jw what you think since youre not psycho

I'm so confused actually. How do you know this? I'm not saying that I don't agree, but how do you know this? You've only listened to one song.

edit: also you didn't adress anything of what I said in my previous post.

itd be so cool if my patrons was actually spiderman tho

well itd be cool if magic existed, period, but you know what i mean

or, actually, now that i think about it, magic would kind of s---...would make the world so much more dangerous smh. i always remember thinking id be terrified living in a world with magic or like superheroes...feel like you can get lit up by something or other at any moment

much rather be a blissfully ignorant muggle tbh

i hate starting right with the very best, but i feel like its relevant seeing as its a remix of drake's "the language"

not only is this one of thugs best tracks to date, its one of the best remixes ive ever heard, period.

Never really thought about it that way tbh
However i dont think it's literally a woman thats the problem here, it's him. the woman is just a picture of his selfish desires that get in the way of his non selfish more admirable ambitions. So, in the end, the struggle lies within him and not the girl.

but isnt it a one track POV if you just paint ANY vice as all consuming?

like, when people say "drugs r bad mkay" everyone knows they're dumb and that OBVIOUSLY drugs are "bad" but that theres more to drug use (and specific drugs in general) than that

so i find it kind of dumbed down that hes just like "i could be anything if only i wasnt for women!" even if the "woman" is just a "metaphor," its indicative of a long running trend in hip hop -- which i know people were talking about in regards to Kendrick doing the same lazy thing in his writing here and there

I dont think its cause any of these artists are actually misogynistic, especially not cole or kendrick, but its laziness in creating concepts to rap about at the very least
