Nov 23, 2015 Chord progression complexity is a criteria that can say if a track is objectively better thought or not, especially in jazz
Nov 23, 2015 Huh? If the chord progression of a track is richer/complexer, that means the track has been more researched. That's quite obvious. Does it make the track more enjoyable? Not especially. Is it better? In a certain way yes.
Nov 23, 2015 and this is where you and everyone else f---s up nothing about complex/rich chord progression is inherently/factually better than something simpler, or minimalist. that's you picking a quality in music personally and placing it on a higher platform than something else because of what you enjoy/value in music more. You're taking your own personal likes and dislikes with music and judging it based on those criteria, nothing more nothing less. And there's absolutely nothing objective about that, because your judgement is still based in opinion, not fact.
Nov 23, 2015 Actually I realized I was wrong when I wrote "in a certain way, yes" but wanted to finish my argument
Nov 23, 2015 MBDTF The College Dropout WTT if you wanna count that Late Registration Graduation Yeezus 808s
Nov 23, 2015 kinda what i figured lol. i'm sure you've listened to his entire discography, but the first half of his career definitely deserves better than "the rest" comment. this isn't like listing sslp, mmlp, tes, and then the rest.
Nov 23, 2015 I have several times, but honestly it's not memorable for me before 808s. I honestly don't even usually know the names of his other albums off hand, hence the rest
Nov 23, 2015 dude you gotta listen to colllege dropout again. you can make an argument that it's kanye at his songwriting peak or at the very least it contains some of the best songs of his career (all falls down, never let me down, jesus walks, through the wire, family business). for me it's right behind mbdtf and pretty comfortably ahead of yeezus and 808s.
Nov 27, 2015 1. Graduation 2. MBDTF 3. Late Registration 4. The College Dropout 5. 808's & Heartbreak 6. Yeezus
