Jun 19, 2016 Anybody who doesn't have this and rates it 1/10 needs to stop listening to hip-hop immediately. This is a production classic and an influential record that DEFINED the west coast. 10/10.
Jun 19, 2016 8/10 overrated because of its impact and influence Not that consistent of a project but has some of the best songs of all time on it. i prefer 2001 over this but its still excellent. let me ride is perfection
Jun 19, 2016 9.5/10 One of the most influential rap albums of all time. Helped start many rap careers. Snoop, Daz, The D.O.C and Warren G gets alot of the credits for this album from me. Also thanks to one of the GOAT diss tracks, Dre Day, we heard another one of the GOAT diss tracks. Real Muthaphuckkin G's
Jun 19, 2016 Holy s---. I know I can't complain too much because I don't usually participate in here but some of the cumulative ratings in this thread are awful.
Jun 19, 2016 9/10... I don't think it aged that well, but its impact is undeniable. One of the most important albums in hip hop history
Jun 19, 2016 I'm probably gonna do rich g--- again soon to see how it stacks up now that a lot more people are familiar with thug. I assume that's the biggest offender. Edit: blue chips 2 also way too low
Jun 19, 2016 MOTHERFUCK DRE MOTHERFUCK SNOOP MOTHERFUCK DEATH ROW YEAH HERE COMES MY LEFT BLOW For this album, The Chronic's a classic but tbh I do prefer 2001 for it's consistency. The highs on Chronic however cannot be reached. Let Me Ride, Nuthin' But A G Thang, Dre Day, Lil Ghetto Boy... just so many timeless songs. 9/10
Jun 20, 2016 probably give it a 6 or something. i don't know, it never really clicked with me like 2001
Jun 20, 2016 It's most classic classic for me,even though i still liked 2001 a bit more. One of fav albums ever, has so many classic songs, and production is goat, has young snoop on it, nate, holy s--- it's just amazing. 9.9/10
Jun 20, 2016 epitome of a west coast gangster rap album. Perfectly executes what it aims to achieve in production, impact, substance, imagery, etc. Only gripes would be that there are a few dud/forgettable tracks in there. Wouldn't say they weigh the album down by MUCH cause its really only a few tracks, & the glaringly stronger tracks almost outweigh these, but these tracks still hinder the album very slightly. Imma give it a 9/10. a near-masterpiece.
Jun 20, 2016 9.1 I agree with everyone that The Chronic is a landmark album that familiarized everyone with an immortal soundscape and some classic tunes. The thing that strikes me the most about this one (and all of Dr. Dre's work) is the phenomenal attention to the mixing/mastering, you can play this on any sound system and it'll still sound perfectly clean. Honestly it's not an album I frequently have the urge to listen to and I always considered Doggstyle to be a superior album but it's still a classic nonetheless.
Jun 20, 2016 Well it has still dre which might be the most iconic hip hop song oat and other classic songs but even then its not really a project I go back to regularly and just let ride. It just runs too long for my taste and I feel like it has some fillers. Love the signature sound tho and devin the dude held it down with his verse on here. Also bonus +1 for nate dogg but -1 for having a woat fanbase. 8.5 Edit: bc ignore this, my moms dropped me on my head when i was lil
Jun 20, 2016 It has Still Dre? OT: a classic, but I find myself more listening to the amazing songs (g thang, let me ride, stranded in LA, Lil Ghetto Boy) than the whole album. 8.2/10
