Feb 27, 2015 Tha Carter III - 8/10 I liked TC2 more, but this s--- was great. So many classics on this joint. This probably capped Wayne's reign too.
Feb 27, 2015 d---, I missed out on ---. Not that it matters but I would give it an 8/10. Die Like A Rockstar was the first song where his voice really clicked with me (I didn't listen to the album in order for some reason). I actually prefer this album over Old. I might be biased because it was my first Danny Brown album but I just love how raw and uncut it sounded. And nothing on Old beats Blunt After Blunt or 30. I'd rate it higher but I often skip the songs Adderall Admiral, Bassline, Scrap or Die, and Radio Song. They were fun listens when they were new to me though. Tha Carter III was cool but I don't f--- with it hard. Has classic tracks like 3 Peat, Phone Home, and Let The Beat Build. It also has some guilty pleasures of mine being Mrs. Carter and p---- Monster (I have no idea why I like this s---). Plenty of solid songs and the singles were cool for what they were. There was a point where everyone had Lollipop as their ringtone. I never liked A Milli though. I'd give it a 6/10.
Feb 27, 2015 7 / 10 This album doesn't come close to the first 2 Carters for me. It has some great songs, but whenever I listen to it, there's a few I skip (mainly A Milli & Lollipop). The production, for the most part, is very well done. There's a lot of lazy writing on this album though, which is why I'm only giving it a 7. s---t Me Down & Mr Carter are the standouts.
Feb 27, 2015 I'm not really a fan of this album and prefer the previous Carters by far, as this one sounds really messy to me; Wayne flows comfortably on most of the beats, but his metaphors are hit or miss imo, and I might sound lazy but the writing is indeed lazy in a few songs, leaving the production to carry them, as other guys have said above me. After a really successful run that lead to this crowning achievement and a shitload of quality songs spread in his mixtapes between the 2nd and 3rd Carter, Wayne doesn't try as much, and this makes the album "uneven" like a sine function. Still, the better songs and the bangers still sound fresh and are very enjoyable, and the production is consistently strong. Depending on my mood, I'll either listen to the whole record and vibe to it, or just pick my favourite songs like 3Peat, s---t Me Down etc and then move on to something else. 6/10
Feb 27, 2015 7/10 - This is an album of highs and lows looking back at it. Weezy was running on a titanic surge of popularity and expectations were really high for him to cement his spot as the #1 rap artist. Production was great for the most part but as mentioned by most of you guys, Wayne was rather uninspired in most of these records. Still it was hard to ignore his infectious flows and his unique charisma, it was a memorable effort but imo a missed opportunity.
Feb 28, 2015 9/10 love this album. the only track which i didn't like is phone home. the rest is perfect imo. this album is one of the most creative and best albums of weezy.
Feb 28, 2015 8/10 Lyrically, I thought Wayne took a bit of a dip on this album compared to some of his previous work. Still, there are some incredible moments on C3 (A Milli, Lollipop, Mr. Carter, s---t Me Down, Tie My Hands), production is top notch, its an awesome pop rap record and no one can deny its influence on hip hop, fair to say it Wayne's magnum opus and it's very unlikely that he'll ever manage to top it.
Feb 28, 2015 8/10 - Out of all 4 Tha Carters that have been released, Tha Carter 3 I would say is my favorite. It's got it's good and bad songs, but atleast 3/4th the album is good songs, so the bad songs get overshadowed.
Mar 2, 2015 6.9/10 - Loved this album when it was released, and I surely wasn't alone as Lil Wayne was huge at the time. If any one album represents my summer of '08 this would be the one. Listening to it now, it really hasn't aged well but I can still enjoy quite a few songs on the album and it has a pretty significant nostalgic value for me. Always felt some of the songs on the deluxe should've replaced some of the weaker tracks on the album, and that hasn't changed. Songs like I'm Me, Love Me or Hate Me, Whip It, and Talkin About It have held up better for me than at least a quarter of the album tracks.
