Dec 9, 2017Amazing project from front to back. The production is great, Isaiahs songwriting is as potent and fleshed out as ever, and artistically he surpassed CD. Dressed Like Rappers, Wats Wrong, 4r da squad, Rope/rosegold, AA, Tity and dolla, stuck in the mud, sikk the shocka, Park, f--- it I like every song on this album

Just revisited this one recently (cold & nippy weather = Isaiah season) and I was so impressed at the amount of depth his verses have, each song has so many layers so I end up always catching something new on each repeated listen. It's a much more mature project than CD which somewhat disappointed me at first simply cause that album was lightning in a bottle and was sincerely unfiltered, but he's grown tremendously as an artist and he laid a solid foundation with TST to hopefully continue in an upward scale.Ordinary Joel, Modest, sheldon and 3 others like this. -

really like this project, overall I prefer cilvia demo but this is a really good project
this album further solidified isaiah as one of my favorite rappers, he can do mellow laid back stuff but he can also seriously spit, and there's so much in his lyrics it's great to have a rapper that can say real s--- but that also is so easy to listen to
he kinda went more commercial with this album which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all, i'd love for isaiah to get more popular but a lot is one of his worst songs and I really hope he strays away making more songs like that
the last couple of tracks aren't bad but they aren't really necessary either
tst has lower highs and lower lows compared to cilvia demo
dressed like rappers is one of his best songs
he's so f---ing good and he doesn't get the recognition he deserves

Hadn't listened to Cilvia Demo before this dropped so didn't know what to expect from Isaiah going in to this album, and it didn't click with me right away, but it was such a rewarding listen once it did. Isaiah is an amazing writer and his verses have so many layers I would probably hear something new if I listened now.
Best album to come out of TDE in 2016 f--- a Blank Face.

Based upon 30 ratings, SXN80 gives Drake's Views a 5.2. Next up:
After a successful run of mixtapes (as well as impressive features on Kanye West's G.O.O.D Friday drops and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) Pusha T released his first solo studio album. Four years later, how does it hold up?

I also wanna add—this was the point where Drake's music seemed to be on the decline and he was so oversaturated in pop culture and everyone was riding him. He'd evolved from relatable simp Drake to this a------ bro-y Drake who only woks out his arms who makes songs about how women should have to pay him to have sex with him. I was so over it. And at that point I just couldn't take songs like Child's Play because I was just so tired of this persona and his immaturity. But in retrospect, that song is great.Poohdini, Fire Squad, Ordinary Joel and 3 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

This isn’t really an album I listen to in full. I mainly stick with the more known tracks like Mercy, New God Flow, etc. I like the fact that lesser known GOOD Music artists got to shine. Don’t Like is probably my favorite track. 6/10

First album that got me into Wayne. Very easy listening with some great tracks but does it tend to drag on a little bit.

Tha Carter is great, mostly, due to the nostaglic effect it has on me. Wayne's whole personality on this record elevated him to being one of the most charismatic rappers ive ever encountered: most evident on This is the Carter. However, the album drags with a bunch of filler highlighting the middle portion of this 21 track monster. Therefore, I can't play this front to back without wanting to turn it off and chuck it out my car window. Overall, I really can't stand wasted potential; a feeling this album, unquestionably, fulfills.

It's always a toss up whether C1 or 2 is my favorite Wayne album. Mostly C2 wins, but C1 is a perfect summer album. Wayne sounds like he's having so much fun (Go Dj, This is Tha Carter), it has bangers (Get Down, Who Wanna) but also more serious songs like I Miss My Dawgs.
I seriously think somehow this album remains somewhat underrated.. he also sounds so good on this and the production is fantastic. I prefer C2 like I said but its really close.

crazy that people refused to call Wayne "real hip-hop" when it was the new sound but now this generation calls it dated and unlistenableOrdinary Joel, sheldon, smitty and 2 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Highs - Conceptual , mellow and relaxing for the listener as intended by Isaiah. Replay value is great on each song.
Lows - If it was shorter I think I would have given it a 8 but thats my bias on preferring shorter albums

In all honesty, I have a cloud of confusion surrounding my feelings on this album. On one hand, I love songs like dressed like rappers, park, and free lunch. However, the last four songs seem useless and unnecessary; they're the epitome of filler. In the end, the highs are extremely high and the lows just embody mediocrity. Therefore, I give the album a 7, I guess.Last edited: Dec 10, 2017BroadStBully2, Ordinary Joel, dester23 and 2 others like this. -
