Dec 8, 2018 DNA 10/10 Rest of the album 0/10 Entire album 1/10 and his worst album. GKMC was awesome. TPAB had the blacker the berry which is 10/10 but the rest of the album was whack. d--- felt like his sell out album. Terrible.

Chonkyfire I spent a day wandering through Atlanta in 2016, on a stopover to Mexico. I was travelling solo at that point and so had my earphones in most of the time. The best way to get around was on the Marta (for those who don’t know - the subway/underground in ATL) and seeing ‘Decatur’ on the transit map, I realised I had to listen to some Outkast. And I remember being blown away at how well Aquemini held up, a solid 18 years after its release. And how ahead of its time it was. But more than that, how well Andre and Big Boi managed to capture the feel of the city; the rhythm, the heartbeat, that feeling of… country charm, for lack of a better description. From the moment Andre unleashes his mind-bending opening verse on Return of the G right up until those wailing guitars finally peter out on Chonkyfire, this album is almost perfect, top to bottom. I remember first discovering Kast in the early-mid 00’s and used to listen to ATLiens and this back to back, only ever skipping over Mamacita (which I still still unfortunately, find just as annoying as I did back then). Whats also evident listening to this album is how much influence Outkast have had on the game. You can hear bits and pieces of their sound in so much of today’s music - not only in their hometown but all the way to Kendrick in the west, Kanye, Cudi, et al. in the north. I’d still give ATLiens a slight edge over Aquemini, but this album is still one of my absolute favorites of all time. I give it a 9.5/10 @RateThisAlbum
Dec 9, 2018 Never been an OutKast fan but appreciate their impact in the game. This was arguably their best album. I'm gonna listen to this again. Andre 3000 brings so much to the table musically that makes this perfect. I love the production. I used to listen to Chonkyfire a lot. Anyway, like I said I have never been OutKast fan at all, that being said the least I can rate this album is 9/10
Dec 9, 2018 My favourite Outkast album! The production throughout the whole album is stellar and both 3Stacks and Big Boi were just so cohesive as a duo. Spottie has to be one of the best tracks OAT 10/10
Dec 9, 2018 Top Kast album to me. Dope s--- on top of dope s--- on top of dope s---. There's so many immortal music moments on this thing. Return of the G is an epic opener. People will forever get hype for Andre's second verse on Aquemini. Da Art of Storytellin will never ever ever get old. SpottieOttieDopaliscious is pure musical ecstasy, Slump is the best cruising song of all time and Chonkeyfire is my second favorite instrumental ever. 10/10 Now who else wanna f--- with Hollywood court?
Dec 9, 2018 Didn’t age very well, sounds out dated. The production is bland and all songs sound too similar. Andre is the only good one in the group and even his bars are weaker than normal. There are definitely some gems on this album but also a lot more filler. The album title is also impossible to pronounce. I would say 5/10. HIGHLY overrated album.
Dec 9, 2018 this has become a case of the troll who cried wolf. I havent counted any of your ratings so far but this one has a tinge of seriousness to it.
Dec 9, 2018 I think ATLiens is the greatest album ever. I’ll give this album a 9 though. Oh what id do for another OutKast album
Dec 9, 2018 10/10 Depending on what day you're asking me, this is the best rap album I've ever listened to. Big Boi & 3Stacks have this telepathic chemistry that is still unheard of, by this point Andre was completely hypnotized by Erykah Badu and was in that spot of being bored of rapping but he was stretching the parameters of the songs into something truly special--the flows and precision of Dre's verses had this sort of abstraction that somehow blended perfectly to Big Boi's more earthbound realism. Like everyone already said some of these songs on Aquemini are hip-hop essentials (Spottieottiedopalicious, Da Art Of Storytellin). The other part is the soulful/funky production that has come to define the rich bluesy sound of the South, makes you feel like you're cruising in a suede-covered 80s luxury car in the sweltering summer of ATL. It was the evolution of Organized Noize's work on Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, practically every Outkast album has these amazing musicians coming in to rock the guitar or some other s---. And still to this day, Aquemini sounds like it came from a distant, more groovy planet.
Dec 9, 2018 The production here is on another level. From party music, to laid back music, car/cruise music, this album has it all. How much influence did this have on future artists?? Big boy and andré are both great on this trying different flows and voice effects. One of the best albums ever made. 9/10
Dec 9, 2018 From ATLiens to Aquemini was an interesting transition from experimenting but now, there's much more southern elements added to it. This album has to be one of the greatest hip hop records of all time. Songs like Aquemini and SpottieOttie are legendary in their own rights. And the production on this album is god-tier. One of my favorite rap beats ever is on this album (Da Art Part 1). All of the sounds and moods they convey on this album is crazy. I love this album. 10/10
Dec 9, 2018 Gonna be a short write up 'cause there’s nothing I can say about this album that @Fire Squad didn't already say better. It's the best Outkast album, Andre was at peak weirdness and creativity, and Big Boi's grittier style compliments him perfectly. The production is almost unparalleled to this day and sounds cohesive af, despite the wild stream-of-consciousness rapping. Top 5 rap album oat as far as I'm concerned. 10/10
Dec 10, 2018 9.5/10 My favourite Outkast album 3 stacks absolutely killed this album, which is why I rate him as one of the greatest rap artists of all time.
Dec 11, 2018 Aquemini gets a 9.6/10 from 12 ratings. Next up… RATING 11: Childish Gambino - Because the Internet Release Date: 10 December 2013 Label: Glassnote / Island Tracklist 01. Andrew Auernheimer I first caught wind of Donald Glover from his role on Community and was surprised to find out he was also a rapper. Despite his (legendary) Spanish bibliotheca freestyle, he didn’t seem the type. I missed his debut EP and my introduction to Childish Gambino was on Camp, one of the most awkward, cringiest collections of music I’ve ever had the misfortune of sitting through. His follow up, Because the Internet, released 2 years later (and which just recently turned 5 years old) is a welcome change of pace. There are still corny lines a-plenty. And the album’s concept, while admirable, is a little all-over-the-place at times. But this is a gigantic step-up from its predecessor and really showcases Gambino’s versatility as a rapper, singer and producer, despite obvious Kanye influences. The project is broken down into acts, each of which works to varying degrees. The first few acts work well, but the later few tend to drag and get a little off topic and have some very questionable instrumental choices. Even though his career after this skyrocketed with his involvement in Atlanta, the genre bending Awaken My Love! and the incredible This Is America single (which I really hope is indicative of his music to come), Because the Internet is remains a relatively enjoyable album and an interesting milestone in Gambino’s career. I give it a 6.5/10. @RateThisAlbum
