Dec 27, 2019 the downside on having everyone just post their lists is that there wont be any discussion on each album. we could have a rating system from 1 to 5 (or 1 to 10) and then add up the points for each album putting in order of how many points they got
Dec 27, 2019 Yeah true... combine the idea's, good! But there are so many albums how u gonna mention all of them ?
Dec 27, 2019 I figured I'd just go through a bunch of popular/albums from the decade lol. But now that I think about it would be dope if you or anyone else wants to jump in to give some different perspectives?
Dec 27, 2019 Nice! I was looking for new albums to listen to. I'm sure i've missed out on a lot this decade. Hopefully we get a bunch of good suggestions.
Dec 27, 2019 @Sav Stanfield Maybe you can make a new poll for each year. For example, you take the 5 or 10 most popular albums of 2010 and make a poll. You leave the poll up for like 2-3 days. Then you make a new poll for 2011 with the 5 /10 most popular albums. Rinse and repeat until 2020. Then at the end you take the album with the most votes from each year and make a final poll.. Not sure how much work that would be but I think a system like that would make a lot of sense.
Dec 28, 2019 thanks man. I thought about polls, only problem with that is that albums from some years (e.g. 2015) are going to miss out on being on the final list. But I think @Michael Myers and I (and whoever else wants to join in) are going to start posting albums one by one that everyone can rate and everyone else can suggest other albums we may have missed out. Just like we did for @RateThisAlbum. We'll rate each album and then at the end tally up the ratings. Stay tuned!
Dec 28, 2019 After much debate, the big horror movie homie and S80 stalwart @Michael Myers and I are proud to present SECTIONEIGHTY'S OFFICIAL ALBUMS OF THE DECADE LIST. We'll be running this pretty much like the Rate This Album threads that our forefather @Big Cuntry first brought to S80 (and that introduced me to so much new music) and that the poster FKA WheresTheMeat @Enez picked up on earlier this year. Difference is we'll only be rating a limited number of albums: those most popular, most highly critically acclaimed and 'biggest' rap and hip hop albums of the decade. At the end of the run we'll tally up the ratings and compile our list of top (10? 20?) albums. Open to any suggestions for which albums to rate. And without further ado. ALBUM 1: PUSHA T - DAYTONA Tracklist 01. If You Know You Know 02. The Games We Play 03. Hard Piano ft. Rick Ross 04. Come Back Baby 05. Santeria 06. What Would Meek Do? ft. Kanye West 07. Infrared The peak of GOOD Music's 2018 Surgical Summer, the peak of Pusha's solo career. Cocaine. Luxury. Genius. Instrumentals hand picked from the Garden of Eden. The stabs at Drake that would evolve into the biggest beef of the decade. Even at only 7 tracks long, it feels like a complete, polished work. I'm left wanting more but hitting play on the first track again just seems to do the trick every time. I give it 9 EUGHKS out of 10. @RateThisAlbum
Dec 28, 2019 Where the other albums were a huge let down imo, Daytona lived up to the Kanye produced album streak we got that year. I'm glad it was so short because it didn't have any real filler tracks, and Kanye x Pusha proved to be a golden combo again. Pusha always delivers and this time was not different. Rick and Yeezy did their thing as well. 8.5/10
Dec 28, 2019 I forgot about it completely. It was dope but somehow it lost all of its' replay value suddenly. Album was pretty good. It felt like an EP, I mean at least should have been like 9 tracks but who cares really. I'd give it a 8.
Dec 28, 2019 Instead of going album by album which will take forever, why don’t you just list all of the contenders at once and we leave are respective /10 rating for each one. We can skip and albums we haven’t listened to
Dec 28, 2019 Because it was @Sav Stanfield idea to create discussion about each album instead of just people posting their ratings and leave it at that
Dec 28, 2019 Some standouts for me this decade that I feel deserve to be nominated afterwards: In no particular order: Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Drake Take - Care Eminem - Recovery Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Piñata Tech N9ne - All 6's and 7's Yelawolf - Love Story Killer Mike - R.A.P. Music Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty Dr. Dre - Compton I'm probably forgetting a bunch. Also didn't include mixtapes.
Dec 28, 2019 Daytona is overrated imo. As far as quality and production it's probably a 7.5 - 8, possibly even higher, but in terms of how much enjoyment I got out of it I'd have to give it an overall score of like 5-6/10. There's really only one song I listen to from that album.
Dec 28, 2019 Easily Pusha’s best solo project and the closest he’s ever come to his Clipse prime. Kanye proved that no matter how hard he falls off as a rapper, he’s still one of the best producers out. 8/10
Dec 28, 2019 9/10. Probably my favorite album of 2018. I def wish it was longer, but that's what they were doing w/ all those albums that got released
Dec 28, 2019 Tech N9ne. h--- yeah, let’s be best friends. I liked Special Effects more. Arguably the 2nd best album of the decade after Revival.
