Nov 23, 2018 d--- thats some serious wisdom. Sounds like a 94 Nas lyric. Ok blurbs it is. But only has to be a sentence or 2. Dont wanna discourage rating
Nov 23, 2018 Haha thanks! And yeah I feel you.. like I haven't heard astroworld more than 2 times so cant reallly get deep into it like people that enjoy it and heard it 20 times. But no blurbs <
Nov 23, 2018 Gonna have to abstain on the grounds that you could not pay me press play on a Travis Scott album
Nov 24, 2018 7.5/10 Other than a few clunkers, it’s travis’s best effort to date and his best work as a curator. The features more mesh and meld to help create something holistic alongside his rapping rather than doing 100% of the heavy lifting (see: Rodeo). I’ve been very critical of travis in the past but I dig this record even if it isn’t the pinnacle of originality. It still gets spins from me—it’s cohesive, sequenced well, and he mostly succeeds at making it sonically reminiscent of a dark, abandoned carnival.
Nov 24, 2018 That is a surprise Mr BC DBR/rodeo much better imo but I still fw this a bit. he just seems to lack the creativity he did with his earlier work. Songs like 30112, oh my and drugs you should try it are one of a kind. 7.8/10 . DBR > rodeo > astro > birds
Nov 24, 2018 I’d go Astro > DBR > Rodeo > birds I love oh my dis side but...would you even listen to it if it didn’t have quavo on it? Lol As far as solo travis goes drugs is one of his best easily.
Nov 24, 2018 5/10 I'm not the biggest proponent of Travis, he has some of the least purposeful rapping I've ever listened to but every now and then he has a fun song or two. As derivative as Rodeo was, it had more of a pulse than Birds or even this had--Astro suffers from a longer running time and I have zero desire to listen to most of these songs ever again. But the songs that do click have been stuck in my head, Travis has a fantastic ear for production/melodic cues and especially if he has the right feature but I just wish it was someone else over these beats.
Nov 24, 2018 8.2/10 Album still hasn't fully settled for me but it is real quality Think I'd still rank it below DBR and Rodeo
Nov 25, 2018 ASTROWORLD gets a 7/10 from 10 ratings Next up... RATING 6: Jay-Z - The Blueprint Release Date: 11 September 2001 Label: Def Jam/Roc-A-Fella Tracklist: 01. The Ruler's Back 02. Takeover 03. Izzo (H.O.V.A) 04. Girls, Girls, Girls 05. Jigga That n----- 06. U Don't Know 07. Hola Hovita 08. Heart of the City (Ain't No Love) 09. Never Change 10. Song Cry 11. All I Need 12. Renegade ft. Eminem 13. Blueprint (Momma Loves Me) 14. Breath Easy (Lyrical Exercise) (Bonus) 15. Girls, Girls, Girls, Pt. 2 (Bonus) When I was about 11 or 12 years old a friend made a CD for me with a bunch of rap songs on it. I still remember the first two songs on it, which were Ether and Takeover. A while later, Blueprint and Stillmatic became the first rap albums I ever owned. While the allure of Stillmatic has faded a little over the years (still a brilliant album), The Blueprint has only gotten better with time, especially given how it pretty much revolutionised the entire sound of rap. And Hov himself? In my humble opinion, at the absolute peak of his game. I think he came close on The Black Album (obviously RD is also up there), but never managed to top The Blueprint. And with good reason: its pretty much flawless. I give it a perfect 10/10. @RateThisAlbum
Nov 25, 2018 8.8 Back in the day i used to listen to this album everyday now it kinda fell off on me cause my taste changed. Nonetheless its one of the best albums of the 2000s and has great consistency
Nov 25, 2018 Great production, charisma, a fantastic diss track, the one feature being a great Eminem collab, emotions, bangers and lyrical songs... this is Jay Z at his best. I wasn't old enough to experience when it dropped but the first time hearing this I loved it. And I still do, to this day. 10/10 easily.
Nov 25, 2018 Arguably the greatest rapper of all time at his absolute peak. Ye and Just Blaze revolutionised the sound of rap and created the perfect backdrop for Jay’s conversational flow to shine in a way it hadn’t before, and Hov’s balance between technical rapping and radio-friendly hits was sharper than ever keeps things consistently fresh and engaging throughout, despite the album being fairly long. No rap album as good as this has been released since. 10/10
Nov 25, 2018 Easy 9.5 I mean what is there to say, Jay at some of his best musically ever. I listened to this so much I got sick of it and my love for it has waned over time but now I go back and think d--- Jay was at his peak on this. This is the Jay z most people think of when they think of Jay z. Takeover is the most banging diss of all time, heart of the city has one of the most iconic instrumentals in music as far as I'm concerned, and renegade is pound for pound one of the best rap songs ever
Nov 26, 2018 Classic. 9/10. And that's just because I'm not a really fan of Jay's music at all. Production was great. Used to listen to Song Cry a lot. I love that song a lot. I love this album more than Reasonable Doubt.
