A friend of mine I used to know would talk about them all the time and I've been meaning to give them a chance for a while. Now that I got a easy way to download music again (shout out @Sahara ), I'm looking to give them a chance.

So any Tool fans here? I've heard some great things about them and would like to know which album would be best to start with, or even a couple albums. Just let me know what their best stuff is or what a good beginner's album for them would be.

    Appreciate it.

I've been criminally ignoring them despite having every other 90s band on my iTunes, I'm in the same boat as you @Kon

Hopefully we'll get some good recommendations, even songs would work although I'd rather check out an album from front to back. I think that's the best way to check out a new group or artist.

I know I've seen a few people on here mention they're fans, so hopefully they'll see this thread. :emoji_thumbsup:

Start with Lateralus, but Google The Holy Gift for an alternative playing order which makes it way better

I like approaching bands chronologically so you can see how they develop.
Tool has 4 albums and they're all considered pretty great. Lateralus is the flagship one however.

Only song I know by Tool is sober and Aaron Lewis's cover of it blows theirs out of the water

I understand you are a stained stan... but, you're wrong about that cover and if you like that song you should listen to Undertow and Ænima.

More of an Aaron Lewis solo stan than I am Staind, I realize that lol. I never had a problem with Tool just never listened to them much, I'll have to check those songs out though for sure.

Opiate EP is also good, and it came before their debut LP, you could start with that. All their albums are good, Aenima and Lateralus are masterpieces.
