I like the underground sound he aimed for in MMLP2 and that gets my vote. The Monster in particular sounds like some Jedi Mind Tricks s---, much better than Recovery's mainstream sound. He really went back to his roots on this one for sure

i bet when i'm getting older i will much more enjoy Recovery than now, but that's personal opinion about what i like, not what is better.
In MMLP2, he's back to his basic. Bad Guy is the best opener among all Em's albums.

MMLP2 shoulda never came out hiphop woulda been good without it...it did nothing for hiphop...Rap God was a publicity stunt...only song on the album that was good for hiphop as a genre was "Dont Front" ft Buckshot

How old are you? I can assure you that Not Afraid is like wine, it'll get better the older the song gets. "Okay quit playing with the scissors and s---, and cut the crap" is among the flawless lines that only the greats can spit. Think about it.

Recovery has aged pretty terribly over the past 4 years. There's really only three songs worthy of going back to listen to. Going Through Changes is a good song, but it's a lot less interesting than it's predecessor(Deja Vu). Space Bound is endlessly listenable just because even after all these years, it can still be interpreted in a few different ways. Seduction is one of the most clever braggadocio raps I've ever heard. It's not even like the other songs on the album are all that bad. They're just boring and forgettable.

MMLP2, at the very least, is an interesting failure because there's a lot more concentrated doses of genius sprinkled throughout. And some of the creative decisions he made really worked. And unlike a lot of his recent stuff, quite a bit of the word play and "technical" parts of the rapping don't sound forced. Brainless has a s--- ton of multis in it, but it never sounds like the most notice-able part of the song. Instead, it's the very interesting mixture of off the wall lyricism and storytelling that carry the track. Plus, d--- near the entire third verse is some of the best s--- he's ever done. But really, it's just an album that doesn't have a whole lot of focus. And more time should have been spent perfecting its ideas. Look at a song like Legacy, that even though kind of goes off the rails, has a fresh take on what would normally be a forgettable subject. If he spent more time on it, especially that third verse, it might have been one of his best songs. Especially with the use of that filter effect which was a fantastic idea to represent the difference between past narration and present narration. Berzerk at its core should have been a h--- of a single, but Em kind of just spat out lyrics that were pretty forgettable. It's a shame considering I really do appreciate that hook. Rap God was pretty simple and Em did what he wanted to do with it, regardless if anyone liked it or not. So I can't really complain about it all that much. Songs like Rhyme or Reason, a------, and So Far... have their upsides.

But, at the end of the day, the only songs that really encompass what MMLP2 wanted to be without dropping in quality throughout are the opening and closing tracks. If the album was as focused as Bad Guy and Evil Twin, which both are essentially top tier works, it would have been a masterpiece. But that's really what Eminem is about these days. Missed opportunities. I think he'll continue to miss the mark, even when he really tries(which I do think he legitimately tried for most of MMLP2). Recovery on the other hand is an album that just hasn't aged well. Other than the three tracks I mentioned above, it's consistently boring as f---.

Mmlp2 was a good album with some strong songs. But recovery has some great classics which will never die out. As eminem is growing old he is slowly growing wiser, which shows in his songs lp2 is a great album.
