No, he wasn't. Most of SSLP was written while he could barely afford diapers for Hailie. TES was written while he was on probation from gun charges. I'm not sure about MMLP, but it's clear from his enunciation that he was sober.

Mockingbird is really pretty bad, badly sung chorus, has rarely any rhymes and has a lot of weak lyricism. Doesn't mean it's good because it's emotionalzz.

Yellow Brick Road, Spend Some Time, Crazy In Love, Never Enough even Evil Deeds and Mosh. All are better than most of the songs in Relapse, Recovery and MMLP2.

Ok. But that doesn't change my opinion. Especially Recovery is very hard to listen to...

    You must be joking?

He’s literally said he can’t remember recording the Lose Yourself demo around 2001/2002 because he was taking so many drugs

MMLP was originally supposed to be called Amsterdam as he was there a lot around that time especially because some drugs were legal there

He’s said countless times how he needed to take drugs when intensively touring...you think he wasn’t taking drugs when he was with D12?

Just look at interviews around his prime era and it doesn’t take a genius to realise he was high as f--- most of the time

He was using recreational drugs while he was touring. He wasn't using them while he was writing.

No, he wasn't using drugs in 2001/early-mid 2002 as he was on probation, as I've stated before.

He started popping drugs in late 2002 when he was introduced to ambien at the set of 8 Mile.

He wasn't "on" drugs when he did SSLP, he was f---ing around with Ecstasy, Weed, some other s--- recreationally for MMLP, he didn't start the pills - which I consider to be his actual non-recreational drug days - till around 8 Mile. I think he became a full blown addict around 2003.

He was getting high all the time

Obviously it escalated after a little while but he was far from sober

Edit: And just for reference: Me saying he was on drugs and taking drugs (because he was clearly a regular user) meant the same thing. My point was that he wasn’t sober

You do realize that 8 mile was filmed in late 2001 right?

Nah my quotes with "on" drugs weren't referencing what you were saying, sorry I just meant that it wasn't part of his lifestyle at that time, just experimenting at parties type of stuff.

He's said before that when he recorded SSLP he was sober. I don't think he started getting high a lot till he really popped off, which would've been after that.

Pretty sure he was taking shrooms & pills around that time though? He references it in a few of his songs

He was broke around the time of SS EP but yes, he had experimented occasionally. It's exaggerated tho.

I'm not saying he never tried a drug in his life before MMLP but according to him it's a misconception that he was taking a lot of drugs while actually recording SSLP bc he did it in LA in around 3 weeks I think? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Em was high as f--- recording SSLP. He actually dyed his hair whilst being high and that's how the image of Slim Shady was born. He and Royce got real f----- up then

    I agree
Recovery is not his best album musically speaking. But it has reason to be, has soul and artistically felt real. I honestly think MMLP2 was a wrong step.
