Jun 11, 2015 We're not negative at the moment, but we need to think about our image towards guests and people who are deciding whether they should sign up or not. Tbh, I'd rather have no likes/disliked/reps at all and only discuss instead of being described by more numbers. People should discover other people by their words and not by numbers only.
Jun 11, 2015 Likes keep people coming back to the forum. People love having a notification number and likes promote more user interaction.
Jun 11, 2015 Huh? When has anyone ever 'discovered' another poster based off number of likes or any kind of posting stat? Lol, people find other posters when they see them posting in threads, not based off any numbers.
Jun 11, 2015 That's what I support, I meant to say that I would rather support having no stats if we can change anything. While no system is perfect, the current one is the closest to what S80 wants to achieve.
Jun 11, 2015 You see a member in a thread, click on his/her profileb(first time I said that after knowing we got female members) and you're confronted with numbers. And before you can do anything, you're influenced by numbers, at least in a small way. Numbers aren't the only influence, but the influence is there.
Jun 11, 2015 This poll looked alright until that "nothing, I'm a b----" option, the way SXN80 rating system works is perfectly fine, we don't need no reputation stuff or dislike or whatever. Your posts and your likes should speak for themselves. The "Plus" thing and whatever the other one is are there for a reason.
Jun 11, 2015 Ugh not for me at least, if I click on someone's profile it's usually to see their posts or to DM them or something. Also imo there are some very bad posters with high like counts.
Jun 11, 2015 explain why being a plus member and having dislikes are two completely different things?
Jun 11, 2015 I never said that they are. Also, likes contribute to you being a Plus member, dislikes will go against you being one. We don't need them, if you don't like what someone says, you can just go ahead and not like their comment, If you REALLY don't like it, just ignore it. It's the internet, everyone is entitled to their own. EDIT: We need to encourage members to post, that's why we have the Like system, by creating the dislike system too, a lot of hate can stir up.
Jun 11, 2015 so where's the middle ground lol okay..? what does implementing a dislike system have to do with not being entitled to an opinion? just like in real life.. an opinion can be entitled to love or hate, like or dislike
Jun 11, 2015 Voted for dislikes. Don't need reps since we have the like feature. Agree with @Kon about the repost feature as well. Just a lazy way to repeat what someone said and doesn't bring anything to the discussion.
Jun 11, 2015 The middle ground is ignoring what someone says. You don't gotta Like or Dislike what they say, you can just ignore it. Also, this isn't the real life, this is the internet, keep that in mind.
Jun 11, 2015 there's just no getting through to some of you smh like, because it's the Internet, therefore an opinion can't be publicly disliked? where's your logic m8
