Dec 23, 2014 Jay Rock's debut album. Released through Tech N9ne's label. It's an impressive album, but I would rank it the 4th best TDE release. (behind GKMC, S80, and Control System) I'll send you a link if you like. My Ranking: 10 - These Days 9 - Setbacks 8 - Oxymoron 7 - Habits and Contradictions 6 - Longterm Mentality 5 - Cilvia Demo 4 - Follow Me Home 3 - Control System 2 - Section 80 1 - GKMC
Dec 27, 2014 Strongly disagree with this list lol. Of course GKMC should be top but Setbacks is easily the greatest "fun" west coast album of our time imo. And then both Cilvia and CS should be higher. For me it'd be 1 GKMC 2 Setbacks 3 and 4 Either CS or Cilvia 5 S80 Keep in mind I haven't heard Follow Me Home
Dec 27, 2014 control system should be in the top 3. f---in impressive album. check it out if you havent @Koolo
Dec 27, 2014 I'd swap Setbacks and Oxymoron, I expected something much better The rest is probably how my list would look like!
Dec 27, 2014 Mixed feelings about this one. Here's how my ranking would go: 1. good kid, m.A.A.d City 2. Section 80 3. Setbacks 4. Cilvia Demo 5. Control System 6. Follow Me Home 7. Habits & Contradictions 8. Oxymoron 9. Longterm Mentality #1 is the obvious choice for me, but then after that it gets shaky. Setbacks is one of my favorite TDE projects and what I view as ScHoolboy's best work. Kind of similar to the feeling I get when I think about or hear The Warm Up by J. Cole. Section 80 got the slight edge over it though. Cilvia Demo was easily one of my 3 favorite projects all year. Control System is my favorite Ab-Soul project, especially because I was at a ScHoolboy and Soulo concert the night before it dropped and they performed SOPA and it was just some crazy s---. Follow Me Home could easily shift way up this list if I started listening to it again. Back in like 8th grade I think it was, me and my friends would listen to that album on repeat all day. Some really great songs on there. Habits & Contradictions is also solid, but it didn't really have the replay value that Setbacks had for me. Blessed is easily my favorite ScHoolboy Q song ever though. Wasn't the biggest fan of Oxymoron, but it was better than Longterm Mentality IMO. This list is so hard to do. I don't not like any of these albums, it's just a matter of where they fit amongst the best. TDE is probably the best group out there right now.
Dec 27, 2014 Longterm Mentality is a very, very underrated project. Probably my fave 'chill out' mixtape.
