Lol no. It's an above average portrayal of the modern trap landscape with a few safe departures and a lot of a-listers both on and off the mic to shoulder the burden

But the end sound is incredible imo

Still only a 6 or 7

When I rate an album I'm not comparing it to other rap albums. I'm rating it based on how much I enjoyed it. Obviously it's not in the top 20% of rap albums EVER but it's still a 8/10 IMO

Subjectively it can be whatever you want it to be I'm saying objectively anything above a 7 is laughable, saying "I like it" or "I didn't like it" isn't good discussion so subjective ratings should be left out unless explicitly asked for, we're trying to discuss the actual musical elements of this new album not whether a certain poster likes it or nah

The way you rate albums makes absolutely no sense. 8/10 doesn't mean "better than 80% of rap albums". This is mathematically false. Or you have to re-rate each albums every time a new one drop, because there won't be the same numbers of rap albums. And it would also means that there is the exact same number of 1/10, 2/10, 3/10, 4/10, 5/10, 6/10, 7/10, 8/10, 9/10 and 10/10 albums in the world

your problem is you seem to have to compare one album to another. Based on how much i liked it— not how it stacks up against other albums I gave it my rating. Also your "factual technical points" are still based on opinion because what you might not find "technically impressive" others will.

No, a good bar is a good bar. There's obv room for debate but only within a certain range
In case you didn't notice, a 5 is average. Average meaning normal fare amongst the genre. Therefore, you are comparing the album to other albums because how else are you going to find the average, above average, etc. @zazou I understand what you're saying, I wasn't trying to be quite so literal with the 20% thing. I'm just saying an 8 is just 1 point or 2 points away from madvillainy, mbdtf, etc, and that seems a bit silly to rate rodeo so closely when it lacks nearly every single aspect that made those albums great
