    It's not about lackluster album, it's about watering down pure rap when he has the ability to put it on a platform. Watering it down with cheap, tacky pop-rap beats and lame features made only to fill the pockets of Suits. And Paul. Like they need anymore f---ing padding.

    It hurts the genre by making some of the bigger s--- - lamer. Not saying it's the lamest s--- or lamer than mumble-rap, but he is.... was... in a position to make PURE or innovative s--- BIG. Not just use cheap formulas for easy hits and put more predictable, mass apeal crap in the genre.

    I still don’t get the hate for the talking s---/backing it all up line. Like that’s a actual saying, if you’re talking a lot of s---, you better be ready to back it up.

    If a line is so bad that it literally gives me those embarrassed goosebumps then why can't or wouldn't I be able to dismiss an entire song?

    That is literally a song killer. Same with that sausage flying out of his a--- but on MMLP2.

    You can say his writing output in the present is inefficient or inconsistent, but if his writing at peak is unbelievably good or brilliant, then it's dismissive to just say that his writing is dogshit and he isn't good at it anymore. Em is good at writing still, he just isn't as reliable and consistent as before.

    Also. the case of those cringey lines isn't half as simple, it's Em trying to experiment with puns, create witty humour, exaggerated metaphors that end with a conclusion etc, etc. Not every artist does that and usually takes the safe lane with flow, rhymes, lyrics in general that are laid pretty straightforward. Though EM's dad jokes on Revival were awkwardly cringy and embarrassing

    Outside of a few good songs, the majority are terribly written. Forced corny/awkward punchlines, overly descriptive to the point of nauseam, often lacking of any substance, or circling around the same topics he has been since 2010. Em is not a good writer anymore, he can write some good s--- every now and then but the bad songs outnumber the good ones pretty substantially.

    Lacklustre album or not, as a true lyricist, Em certainly has the right to go at mumble rap, and I hope he does; Chloraseptic was a little too subtle.

    I’d argue that it’s one of his top verses.

    The wordplay, mixing up of flows, content, anger etc is incredible. It’s a perfect response verse imo. One of the best things to come out of this era. It’s the closest to prime/MMLP-era Em we’ve ever had.
