Maybe playing devil's advocate here but I love myself doesn't get radio play?

Right, but it gets radio play no? So if it flopped commercially is it because of the quality of the track? Or that the audience is to stupid and needs bubble gum rap? What's McDaniels getting at?

    Again, playing devil's advocate.

Good question. McDaniels is pretty vague but I think he's speaking to a larger issue that a lot of people have with mainstream radio that they don't play anything that's too far outside the box anymore, unless it's in really high demand. I don't know if he's necessarily done his research though because Swimming Pools charted as high as 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Not that that chart is the end all, be all but its one measurable. Kendrick has charted pretty well in general.

In general though, the radio is scared of anything outside of the box. Really anything that isn't "pop."

mad co-sign but the bit about radios doesn't sound right. Kendrick gets mad radio play here in Aus. Literally just heard "i" on the radio like an hour ago.

true, i've heard them at few clubs. but yeah like, for the amount of rap on the radio (not much) kendrick was killing it for a while.
