I'm in the same boat as you - I still want to improve my times a lot, especially for long runs. Congrats on 15km! That's 9.3miles I believe, in America distance. I've only run that much 2-3 times ever.. good job!

So when you're on a run, do you keep track of mile times? Or km times? Or just total distance. Sorry I'm so naive to foreign anything haha :)
:emoji_slight_frown: I feel so bad for you, when I have sore knees from running I'm irritated.. I can't imagine having all the knee problems you have :/ I did not even know people could get cameras put into their knee lmao. good luck buddy

Hey thanks, I appreciate it. The cortisone shots made it better but I can still feel the irritation under the numbness. I'll see on Monday though I guess :wow2:

I read up a bit on cortisone and it's basically what I thought it was, just an anti-inflammatory that's injected directly into your knee. So basically just Advil on roids. Yeah they do stick a camera into your knee, that's how they fix your ligaments and stuff. They don't actually cut it open. This is what's probably gonna happen to me next month :ohno:

:ohno: oh my, that doesn't look fun at all. I've been lucky enough to only have 1 major surgery in my life and it was at 6 months old so i don't remember it. I'm glad the cortisone helps and I really hope on Monday its all uphill from there! :)

Since you asked me to keep you updated on my half marathon training, here's today's run. Longest run I've done since my last half in May, but I'm really happy with it and somehow had a way better pace than my half.

The race is 4 weeks from today! I feel guilty telling you about my run when you can't run :emoji_slight_frown:

I had major knee surgeries back in 2006 and 9 months post op the pain in my left knee was unbearable. My orthopedic surgeon recommended a cortisone shot and said to give it 3 weeks. I didn't feel amy improvement whatsoever until like exactly the 3 week mark. The knee pain was gone and never came back. Also, squatting is great for knee health/pain.

TLDR- Give it more time and squat.

Welcome, emostar! Awesome shoes. Good job on your first run back. I've heard about that app too, building up to a 5k is a great way to start :)

Blew off all my runs this week in Seattle. I even brought my running shoes and clothes. :sadpepe: I hope it doesn't ruin my training, going to do a 15k when I get home tomorrow.

lmao, next avy will be Phoebe :dance2:

Just did a mile and half after hitting legs.

Shoutout to all the new years gym rats. I hate you mof-'s for taking up all the free weights & machines, but I respect the hustle.

I haven't been running or hooping much for the past few weeks. I played for the 1st time in 2 weeks yesterday and felt slow as h---, so I need to get after it a bit more this week. 2 miles after the Bulls game it is.

Good luck my friend, I hope the recovery is quick :emoji_slight_frown:

The 15K went great! but unfortunately since then, I have only ran 12 miles total since the new year started. I got sick about 5 days ago and I could barely leave my bed :emoji_slight_frown: I missed my 11 and 12 miles runs, so unless I miraculously get back to 100% and get a few short runs in, my half marathon on Sunday will be rough

Hey, good luck man. That's awesome. Don't worry about the lack of running prior to the race. I recall reading that a couple of marathoners do absolutely nothing a few days prior to the race. Take pics for us :)

    And thanks :wiggins:

Recovery could be anywhere from 1 week to 2 months depending on how it goes. If I tore the inner meniscus where there's no blood supply, then they just cut that part out and I'm back to running in a few days but only bad part is early onset arthritis in my like 60s I think. If it's a tear on the outer rim, then they stitch it and save all of it but I think I have to be in a brace for like 6 weeks D:

That means I'll have to do PT to deal with the muscle loss from the brace. It'd be the healthiest outcome for me but it'll mean a longer recovery.

I'll take pics on my way to the hospital and try to see if my doctor is willing to record the operation.

Ok a few of you may have known that I broken my foot mid October last year (same bone as Joel Embiid lol). I've recovered well and theres a good chance that I'll be taking a few running drills to get back in shape in a week or so. I can't wait and I'll be checking into this thread.
