I’d also add: non-violent d--- dealers obviously deserve some form of repercussion whether it be a fine, short sentence, etc. Most reasonable people just don’t think they should be doing decades in prison.

Estimations by non-profits say between 2,000-3,000 (government data hasnt updated in years so that's why I'm saying estimations) people in federal prison for cannabis related offenses. And I know that Biden has no jurisdiction over state prisoners. That's why I made it a point to be specific:
Biden pardoning people was good, but it was a pr move more than anything. This didn't free anyone from prison, because it only covered simple possession, not manufacturing and possession of large amounts of cannabis. All of which are legal for medical or recreational purposes in half of the country.

People who had a simple possession charge have already had to go decades without equal access to employment, education, financial aid, and housing. Thankfully they can access all of these now, but the damage has already been done.

Which is a drop in a bucket when looking at all individuals currently serving time for non-violent drug offenses in the United States.

It was the most pro-marijuana/pro-criminal justice reform action that any president has ever taken in U.S. history. We really ought to reflect & consider that. A “pr move” that helped people’s lives.

Why do you think non-violent drug offenders should go to jail?

It was even less than a "drop in the bucket" towards overhauling the criminal justice system. And calling it a PR move is more than fair, especially considering Biden could have done so much more with the mere flick of his pen, as pointed out above. Simply pardoning people for petty possession isn't radical at all. (And as an executive action, it isn't reform either, but nice try at conflating the two. "Criminal justice reform action" rofl). It's very obvious you care more about PR than actually "helping people's lives". And you bristle when I call you a neoliberal lmao. Clown.

No, it wasn't. The First Step Act actually got people out of prison, and changed sentencing guidelines. But you don't want to acknowledge that because it would somehow be giving Trump credit.

Enigma almost got me with his "reform action" doubletalk. He should be a talking head on CNN.

Not saying all drug offenders should go to jail. But I also don't think every non-violent drug offender shouldn't.

To me its not like "oh u used no violence, its okay you gave a 12 year old drugs bro carry on".

I know you guys have very different views on drug use and dealing. That is fine.

Before Trump announced his 2024 candidacy and his better than Lincoln and better than Washington NFTs... he had a month long Rally run where he promised to Judge Dredd execute all d--- dealers.

contrary to what dare propaganda teaches, d--- dealers don’t just go around handing out drugs and there aren’t a lot of 12 year olds buying heroin and crack

Im talking about marijuana policy—not criminal justice reform efforts in general. What president has pursued more staunch efforts to decriminalize marijuana than Biden? I’ll wait.

The First Step Act had nothing to do with marijuana policy specifically but the funny part about all of this is I praised the passage of the bill when it happened & you even liked my post lol.

yes, saying blatantly wrong things in a discussion is bad imo! Can’t expect someone who calls the Holocaust a hoax to understand that though.
