It's seventh on my list now so there is a chance it could get knocked out once I finish watching what I want to watch. Even if it does, the quality difference between the tenth-thirteenth spots isn't that drastic. Don't think it's that crazy to suggest that Gone Girl is top ten worthy.

There's so much I missed out in 2014...but my top 10 would probably look like:

    1. Birdman
    2. Boyhood
    3. Grand Budapest Hotel
    4. Under the Skin
    5. Nightcrawler
    6. Inherent Vice
    7. Wild
    8. Interstellar
    9. Foxcatcher
    10. Snowpiercer

really want to watch Whiplash still

good enough to be #1 on my list haha

But yeah, it's fantastic. It's a crazy viewing experience because a majority of it feels real time, and its pace is pretty relentless. It's hilarious, it's engaging, and the acting is incredible all around. Ed Norton has always been lowkey a GOAT. Keaton is stellar. I would wife Emma Stone even if it meant only having to listen to Eminem for the rest of my life, etc etc

pretty much a flawless little piece of cinema magic - will go down as a classic.

American Sniper too high especially over Interstellar

    The Guest over Birdman

    Godzilla over Captain America

X-men so low in comparison to other other blockbusters

Whiplash is defiantly better than Frank, both correct range tho

    Foxcatcher over Nightcrawler eh

ur top ten is on point for the most part though. Still don't like Listen Up Phillip tho

and Grand Budapest shade is unlike you. Especially since u had Moonrise in your top ten back in 2012.

Forced to pick between them, I found American Sniper much more interesting to discuss, for reasons both good and bad, and I have certainly thought about it a lot more than I have Interstellar.

The Guest is definitely better than Birdman :emoji_wink:

Godzilla has its share of problems, but it has more striking and memorable imagery than any blockbuster in recent memory.

X-Men...didn't really like it or dislike it strongly. It just felt perfunctory to me.

Ehh...don't really care about Whiplash or Frank enough.

Similar for Foxcatcher and Nightcrawler, didn't realize that's how I ranked them until you mentioned it.

I love Grand Budapest Hotel, but it was a really strong year imo :blunt:

I dug it a lot, but I wasn't passionate about it after my first watch. However, that's probably because the film's effect is so understated and low-key rather than because of any shortcomings of the film. A very nuanced and detail-rich work, it certainly has been sticking with me.

It hit me really hard and I haven't been able to get it out of my head, I have a feeling this is going to be one for the ages for me. There's one shot that is among the best I've seen in a while, you can probably guess which one I'm talking about, but man that was the point when I realized I was watching something special and then the ending just knocked the breath out of me. Incredibly powerful and effective work imo.
