Feb 17, 2022Stop moving the goal posts lol. If you're going by mainstream alone then why are you including kendrick? Even in LA barely anyone knew who he was in 2005. E-40's record went platinum and had higher selling singles than game (one plat and one gold vs game's two gold...game's singles had both 50 features and dre production and still didn't outsell e-40's)

Mac dre and e-40 are two of the most original stylists in rap ever. Mac Dre is beloved and has a HUGE cult fanbase, even Drake has shouted him on songs. E-40 was going platinum. Too Short dropped Blow the Whistle in 2006. Andre Nickatina still tours up and down the west coast on music from this era. He would come to my college town on 4/20 every year and would sell out every time. I lived on the west coast for the first 28 years of my life and this is what people were listening to. I'm not saying Game wasn't popular too but the idea that he was the only one is just wrong/revisionist history.Ordinary Joel, rapmusik, hargydon and 2 others like this. -

Exactly. Ok nowadays you can use Twitter and might get a minimal grasp on who's currently popping and maybe take a look at the views of music videos on Youtube, but that's still not a metric on who's actually super popular. You have to live there, go to local clubs, talk to people, listen to radio stations and just catch the overall vibe to really know which artists, let it be new ones or old ones, are really ominpresent in that specific area.Ordinary Joel, Modli2, Rodamon and 2 others like this. -

Not really the best comparision, but I remember when Michael Jackson announced his last concert at 50 and people didn't believe he was going to pull off a good show.Ordinary Joel, Ricky, D12Shady and 2 others like this.Dec 19, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

h--- no, I love Xzibit… he’s criminally underrated man. Also, solid list, mines is similar although his weakest album for me is still like a 5/10, and i was just thinking imagine a greatest hits project with 2 or 3 of the best tracks from each of his albums… it would be hard as f---.Michael Myers, icecube, Detroit24 and 2 others like this. -

I'm seeing him in London in August. Had tickets for March 2020 since they first went on sale. Still irks me that this is still called the "I Wanna Thank Me Tour". Dude's released like 27 albums since then. Considering the guests, I'd be SOOOOOO f---ing hyped if he rebranded it the Death Row 30 Tour.
Man, I was about to get so pissed at you. I have that Marsh c---- on ignore so your post appeared without his quote so it looked like you were stating X only had one good album rather than mocking that little c-m-stain. But thank f--- you were just quoting him! IMO:
Restless (9.5/10)
Man Vs Machine (9/10)
40 Dayz and 40 Nightz (8.5/10)
At the Speed of Life (8/10)
Weapons of Mass Destruction (7/10)
Napalm (6/10)
Full Circle (4/10)
Yesss! Now just add Xzibit and DPG into the mix and extend to an hour plus and paradise would've been created!
However, I do understand and agree with why MJB was there. Another box was ticked. Imagine the controversy of a "known woman beater" to do a performance like this without a female cosign.Michael Myers, Detroit24, Ordinary Joel and 2 others like this. -
