It’s not so much that. It’s more so “I have the right to own one so why not?” It’s this super aggressive form of patriotism (chauvinism?) that some Americans have that makes this discussion so difficult. The f----- up part is, a majority of gun owners support policies like universal background checks, gun registry, preventing mentally ill from purchasing firearms, etc. but still... no action.
