I have a question that's a little off topic, but I want to ask cause I'm guessing your fans of both thug and quan. Even though I enjoy their music, I feel like their lack of depth when it comes to subject matter might prevent them from lasting long. I mean although they have exciting flows, and are highly entertaining do they have any lasting value? Will they be relevant in 5 years?

Trust me man, I've listened to their stuff more than a couple of times though, and I'm not hating because they do make bangers here and there. I f--- with a lot of rappers too, but I just really can't wrap my head around the fact that you can enjoy them over Cole.

The fact that people think this year was that bad REALLY just reflects on how narrow their search for albums was.

And that's really reflecting poorly on supporters of Cole's album because they're going around using that as a crutch for ranking FHD so highly. They don't want to admit that they haven't looked hard enough.

It was a weak year in comparison to 2013 though.

Nah, it was an idea to work with various up-and-coming artists with genuine growing fan bases (someone with a fan base like JK the Reaper, for example) to try to expand SectionEighty's rap discussion past the generic and oh so boring Eminem/Kanye/Drake/Cole bs of Studio Leaks. If Section Eighty developed into something of a platform for both user discussion and exclusivity/ability to premier singles for more independent artists, it'd increase the popularity by a tenfold.

The vision of Section Eighty is to become the pinnacle of (mainly) hip-hop discussion, is it not?

Yes they will - they are literally influencing every single artist in the mainstream in form or another. They're TWENTY TWO. Eminem was biting migos on XV. Thugs slowly bringing Wayne back to his old state.

All that aside, their music DOES have substance. People are too dissmisive to realize that.

I could quote verses after verses that are not only well written, but show depth - but I'm on that phone.

An more than that, that's for you to discover. They are making by far some of the most enjoyable, creative, interesting, and exciting music I've honestly EVER heard.

Every new Young Thug song is like Christmas morning to me. You don't know what you're gonna get. And do you know just how much music he's reased this year? And thst a majority (maybe all idk) was recorded LAST year? That he's being this prolific with his OLD s---?

I'm glad you recognize his talent, I'd suggest divin deeper into the belly of the beast

In the mainstream. And maybe in general but what most of these cole fans are referring to is the mainstream. Mainstream isn't all there is is it? And the fact that when there are suddenly not like 10 albums shoved in our face by the industry that they claim it's the worst year in f---ing HISTORY reflects pretty poorly on their apparent knowledge of the genre does it not?

It is what it is bruh :khaled2:

However sometimes not all of us have the time to go through and listen to everything that does come out, we might be missing out but it's tough juggling all the substance and content you listened to. It's only natural that a fan defends his favorite artists too, that's what music makes us do.

But the fact that you think it's JUST hype music or bangers means you dont have a full enough grasp on the artists man, that's all in saying.

It's like if I said cole only makes pop singles after only hearing work out and power trip ya kno?

I respect that. I feel like quan has substance with a song like they don't know which is dope but i haven't heard it from thug. Can you suggest some songs with substance?

    You
You have a Young Thug Avy.. I think that's all I need to know about your taste of hip hop. Nothing against young thug or your taste in music. I like his music as well but you will never catch me listening to his projects from front to back. The majority of his tracks are not that good/filler. I'll listen to a song here and there, when I wanna get hype, turn up, or maybe lifting. He isn't worth the time. I'll listen to his bangers

RTJ has some nice songs and is in my top 5. But like you think FHD is over rated I think RTJ is.

I'm not listening to Boosie. Lol. I f--- with Mick Jenkins. Martyrs is nice. I should give h--- Can Wait some spins tho

And if you have to search that f---ing hard to find "good" hip hop then guess what? it was a down year. The albums/projects people are pointing out as good hip hop really aren't that good to begin with. People will not be listening to any part of them at this time next yr. It's ok because none of the staples of hip hop released a project this year.

But the thing is, a sane persons acknowledges they didn't have the time or energy to do that - NOT claim it's the worst year in HIP HOP HISTORY

    :hov:
That only makes them look stupid

Yeah, creating a section for only a select few netcees to post their music, whether or not they have a fan base, is not how you develop a platform for independent artists. I'm not even going to get in to the fact that adoption rates for forums by an artist's fan bases are less than 1%.

But if that would increase this sites user base from 500 active members to 5000 members, I should hand you the reins and allow you to steer and develop my site. But then, the team I brought over from JCN is the most qualified to do so on this site so nah I'm good.

I am sad that Under Pressure didn't make it on the top 5.

Like it or not, i can tell that is by far the most ambitious Hip Hop record of 2014. I think Logic did something great with the album. But oh well, what i can do :sad2:

Also, dat Top 100 Hip Hop songs of Rap Genius...

I don't really think he is bitting so much Kendrick. I respect his opinion but the people doesn't even try to give a chance to the album.

"Oh, he bites Kendrick, record sucks, next" and saying that people is ignoring things like Nikki, Metropolis, Growing Pains III, g--- Related, Under Pressure track, etc

The album feels soooo fresh. Best thing is that it doesn't have a bad song, and i could relate with his lyrics.

Give to the record another chance man, you can say Logic put work on this s---.
