Nov 23, 2014His most forgettable release. I can't believe these dudes get into a room together and think this is great music.
Production was above average, so there's that.

Eminem is a great producer for his own tracks, besides Dr Dre and Bass Brothers. Vegas is an amazing track and the beat, where his verse gets to the end, is PERFECT for something like a Need For Speed game right in the center of Tokyo at night when it rains. Amazing song, style switching, really well fitting for Royce. Fine Lane sample, hook, singing where he says "please come back to me" sound really emotional and gave me chills at first, his third verse is probably one of the best ones because beat becomes more simple and lets you focus on what he says. He begins to yell in the end and then sadly and quietly says "I'll always be an outsider". GOF is good. I just like it. In Twisted I was able to feel the pain, or maybe not pain, but all emotions Eminem tries to express in that song, especially in the second Skylar's verse. This is a good indicator of which direction is he going to. It's a mix between Recovery and MMLP2, it should've come out in 2012 and be the perfect transition.eddie313, 83837477, Groovy Tony and 1 other person like this. -

I've come to the conclusion while listening to Vegas off this album that Eminem is still here..

Given the entire album a few listens. Pretty much as I expected. The Lose Yourself demo is a great easter egg. Sadly its presence only harms the rest of the disc in comparison cause 03 Em s----s on the present day one.
2014 Em continues his trend of choking out tracks with as many bars as possible. It was d--- near impenetrable to start with, but you get used to it. Fine Line is pretty great, and he's alright on the others. The funny nod to his old voice and delivery on the opening track doesn't last long enough for me.
Of the label members, Yelawolf fares the best here. He pops up a few times in different positions and kills it. He's not for everyone, but he's settling comfortably into a unique sound and is the only artist on here who really owns his role every time. Hopefully this project will give him the push he needs to release "Love Story".
Slaughterhouse barely registers on the project, which is a waste of 4 pretty talented dudes. D12? What a joke. I actually enjoy the song fine but it's so clearly thrown in through obligation, and it sucks that Em didn't even bother to appear, especially when he's on nearly every track.
The production is really solid throughout, probably the best produced Shady album since Relapse. You can tell the difference between the songs Eminem worked on in-house, and the odd few just thrown in from other projects, which makes it less cohesive. I would have liked more label member collaborations on there too. It's not bad though, and there's nothing I dislike on there.

Gave the album a few listens now. Shady XV is a solid track. The FACK shoutout, Rihanna line and the ode to SSLP voice were standout moments. Wish the beat had more going for it though.
PK is great all around. Crooked delivers, Yela killed the hook and Em's verse was dope, if a little off beat at times. Liked the "keep walking the line" part.
Die Alone is okay. Em's a bit generic on it, and the hook is hard to hear at first, but it's passable. Premo's production on Y'all ready know is sick, Yelawolf held his own on Down. Vegas is awesome. Beat, hook, and Em killed it.
Bane was downright terrible. That hook felt like it would never end, and hearing Bizarre distressed me. It's not that the track needed an Em verse, rather D12 as a whole should have done something more memorable after a 10 year hiatus.
Fine Line is a highlight. Brubbels sent me a version with the bridge integrated with the hook, which should have been done in the first place. Loved the outsidaz shoutout, and the second verse had a nice feel to it. Twisted's good, didn't mind Skylar's contribution, Yela definitely stood out on that track, and Em's bridge is dope.
I want to like Right For Me. I've tried. It's got a lot of witty lines, but at times Eminem just sounds like he's rambling. Hook and beat are solid. If the delivery was different, and the verses less verbose and defined, it would've been my favorite. Detroit vs Everybody is pretty sick, even with the weak hook. Beat is on point. And Yela's Till It's Gone is a great lead off into his own album.
And how awesome was it to hear the Lose Yourself demo? Clearly it doesn't hold a candle to the final version, but if that's a sample of the s--- Eminem has in his vault, hopefully we get to hear a lot more.
Overall, much better than the Re-up, which isn't saying much. It's a good album, Eminem genuinely shows some wit again but I still prefer a slower flow to let you appreciate some of the lines more. Especially on Right for me and Psychopath Killer.
Overall 7 - 7.5/10.
Also, it's great to see this site up and running. I went to TR Shady for a minute when it was down and nearly killed myself.SLAYAR, kelcur, Mike Tyson and 1 other person like this. -

word to Star Nizzy, this album has some of the worst hooks of the year. I can't believe how bad some of these choruses are melodically.
as for Marshall, I dunno, he had his moments. I will give a few of these songs some more plays to see what sticks. As of now, I think I'm gonna have a real problem replaying this a lot for the reasons I already stated, and also because I think modern day Em humor is way too corny (how many Lorena Bobbit reference did I hear? 2? 3? Isn't it almost 2015?). It has its moments, but overall I guarantee 6 months from now everybody will be (rightly) calling this inconsequential and totally forgettable.
btw I can't remember the last time I heard a song as terrible as Bane. Anyone who still shows even the slightest interest in a new D12 album is out of their mind.Brubbels, DKC, JFK and 1 other person like this. -

But you're assuming that everybody is in agreement that Lose Yourself Demo = No Apologies. While it was cool to hear I don't really see myself listening to Lose Yourself Demo very much. It was good but it was utter s--- compared to the song he ended up releasing. Compared to the original the beat is worse, the chorus is worse, and the verses are good but not great. In 2006, regardless of when it was recorded, all of No Apologies was brand new. I've listened to that song hundreds and hundreds of times over the last 8 years and consider it a top 10 Eminem song. Yeah the third verse wasn't up to par with the first two but it wasn't horrible. The other two verses, hook, beat and outro of the song were literally flawless and I don't see how the Lose Yourself Demo can be compared. Like I said it's good but I don't see myself listening to it very much. For me it was kind of like "Whoa, this is different, cool." and that's it. If I have the urge to listen to Lose Yourself from here on out i'll be listening to the original 99 times out of 100.SLAYAR, Epitome, Old Account and 1 other person like this. -

Twisted is still the best song on this, along with Fine Line.
I really hope he calms down before his next solo LP. His flow is impressive, but I prefer to actually understand what he says...SLAYAR, rapmusik, link shady and 1 other person like this. -

Quick thoughts-
Hated it at first but I can kind of appreciate it now. I hate the rapid fire flow and wish his rapping was more simple like it used to be but oh well.
His wit genuniely is back(glimpes of it at least). Instead of trying to be edgy with s--- like "I do what I wanna man I pee on Rhianna" he's back to "I'll scar you for life worse than Dzhokhar". Actually, that whole verse on Psychopath Killers along with the beat is just>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> If that was a solo track that could have been special. Too bad Yellow Wolf and whoever else had to be on it. I still think G.O.F. was the best track on the album.
All in all this project>>>>> BME and MMLP2 by a very long shot. I was pleasantly surprised.
By the way is there a CDQ out yet or just the s--- quality?fezzer, lil uzi vert stan, DKC and 1 other person like this. -

Album was good for what it was, but yeah it completely lacks the replay value of Eminem's solo efforts. Was really happy with the Original Lose Yourself track though, was surprised at how different that was to the Soundtrack version.Zep, oDDtHomAs, Packman and 1 other person like this. -
