Nov 16, 2015 ironies cont: Between April and October of 1980, amid an economic downturn, Fidel Castro announced that Cubans who wanted to leave could do so. It precipitated a mass exodus toward the United States. Around 125,000 Cubans fled the island in the Mariel boatlift. The question was what to do with them once they arrived. After all, huge infusions of refugees are often unwelcome, and rumors that the “Marielitos” included many released criminals made many Americans even less welcoming. In May, President Jimmy Carter informed Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton, then nearing the end of his first term in office, that 20,000 of the immigrants would be housed temporarily at Fort Chaffee in northwest Arkansas. Clinton backed the move by his fellow Democrat publicly, but was privately furious: “How could you do this to me? I busted my a--- for Carter. You’re gonna get me beat.” Once they’d arrived, the resettlement process ground to a halt, and in June, a riot erupted, and Clinton called out the National Guard. Several months later, as he’d predicted Clinton lost his bid for reelection to Frank White, a first-time candidate for office. In the same election, Carter lost the White House. The story turned out happily for Clinton, who defeated White in 1982 and went on to become president, but Carter and Clinton reportedly still dislike each other. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics...lash-governors-reject-syrian-refugees/416151/
Nov 16, 2015 he's awful. but anyways don't wanna get too off topic. I'm just saying USA doesn't deny people who need safety and there's procedures put in place for those reasons, that work and that we trust.
Nov 16, 2015 I agree but in certain situations we have to consider our own safety being at risk. Rubio is much better then any democrat who will continue to turn this country into a bunch of p-----s. We need a leader and only a Republican will make a good one in these times of war and tragedy. Turn off CNN.
Nov 16, 2015 You think Rubio has leadership qualities? I don't mean to engage you on a political issue lol... but Hillary is hawkish on foreign policy and has XX times more experience, whatever than anyone not named Lindsay Graham in the Republican field. They're all either inexperienced to the point of political incompetence, or just ~demagogues preaching to the base. Even if I wanted to vote Republican, which I could... this isn't the field to do it.
Nov 16, 2015 If Obama is smart def. no !!! and i hate Merkel (u slut) for her "Welcome Refugees " movement. At least 70% of the people in Germany are afraid as h--- and dont want more refugees (especially after the Paris terror attack) but she doesnt care. + We have still no registration at the border , so we have absolutely no clue who is in our country and whos not. incompetent b------s !
Nov 16, 2015 But Hillary has been so inept as SoS. Even with her experience her ideals and beliefs are not what we need.
Nov 16, 2015 I don't agree she was inept. That's just partisan blowback. The truth is she likely avoided full engagement during her time in office to minimize anything that could be used against her now. What ideals/beliefs does a Clinton have, exactly? They're 100% self-serving lol, and that's not even a bad thing.
Nov 16, 2015 Ideals and beliefs meaning the course of action she would take if president lol. I just think after Benghazi and having a hand in getting us out of Iraq before they were ready, she has shown me that she is incapable of leading. Just my opinion. Some people really like what she has to offer as far as foreign policy
Nov 16, 2015 Rubio is my 3rd choice because of these reasons. However I think he has great ideas and could get us on a good path. I think Republican polices in general represent real leadership. Even though Hilary has more experience I don't see her using it for the greater good of the country. I don't trust her at all honestly. If Bernie Sanders had a chance I would consider him but overall I just can't get in board with the liberal philosophy that is turning our country into cowards.
Nov 16, 2015 this is a serious issue, not your college roomate coming into town for the weekend. it's not as simple as "you have more room, get them to stay with you for a bit".
Nov 16, 2015 I don't understand bringing in refugees from another country and giving them housing while we have tens of thousands of homeless veterans that have risked their lives for this country and have not been given anything.
Nov 16, 2015 Anonymous won't stop them no but I respect anyone willing to help in any way. Unlike Obama.
Nov 16, 2015 10,000 would be alright. 100,000? No. As for the idea of housing refugees, the government of my country should be looking out for my best interests, do not burden me because you bite off more than you can chew. I can't see that happening in the U.S, it's already a mixed bag. You put 10,000 refugees in Texas nobody would bat an eye. The background checks are ESSENTIAL. If it means delays, so be it. After (or, if) the war is over, they will be sent back home, or have to apply for citizenship.
Nov 16, 2015 Btw f--- economic refugees ( 65-75% of the refugees in Germany ) , those little ticks just take advantage of the IS/Syria Situation. And these Idiots in Germany take them with (the greatest) pleasure. Smfh
Nov 16, 2015 I'm glad Cuba was on the USA terrorist list for s----s and giggles then. you keep saying p-----s but I don't know what you really mean by that. turn off FOX?
