Sep 17, 2017 I just asked B/C I always think about those two albums together. I don't think Fimally Rich would be the same without Flockaveli. I think The trap duo of Alex Luger and Waka Flocka paved the way for the drill duo of Keef and Young Chop. Flockaveli was pretty influential, though. I would call it a classic, def a trap classic
Sep 17, 2017 we'll have to agree to disagree on that then critical success means exactly d-ck all to me, and lots of things change culture that aren't necessarily held in high regards
Sep 17, 2017 Yeah flocka was influential but it wasn't very ''new'' he was doing essentially what TI did, keef although similar was very different. thats why I said both, what do you think makes a classic
Sep 17, 2017 That doesn't really make sense though. Classic isn't some elite group albums enter, its a way to describe an album.
Sep 17, 2017 s--- like Rock Bottom or Still Dont Give A f--- sounds way less outdated & cheesy than Business or Square Dance
Sep 17, 2017 nobodys shared this opinion with me before but i never wanna hear slim shady era eminem ever again in my life, its ear wrenching i was a mod on my old friends twitch and i used to ban people who requested ss era eminem songs, i dont need that s--- in my life homie
Sep 17, 2017 how what does "classic" as a label mean beyond the very obvious (that certain people hold it in very high regard) there's nothing specific about that label that in anyway describes anything it's applied to
Sep 17, 2017 it's not but that is what we're talking about here all this basically amounts to is groups of people with a voice have judged _____ as good i already said critical success means jack s--- to me so I still want to know since you've said it: how what is descriptive specifically about calling an album classic? it doesn't tell you anything about the album itself
Sep 17, 2017 No not a group of people with a voice, everyone. It's not only critically acclaimed, its publicly acclaimed, do you disagree? If the general consensus is Illmatic is the best album than its way beyond classic because by definition there is no higher quality, objectively speaking.
Sep 17, 2017 except, not because at no point has literally anything ever been praised by everyone not even like the majority of people lol where are you pulling the consensus from m8? you go to different places and talk to different people you'll get entirely different consensus when talking about something like entertainment yeaaaaa, let me stop ya there also you still not answering how calling an album a classic is descriptive of the album in anyway
Sep 17, 2017 agreed but most of the songs on the album with the humor, political s---, production especially, feel glaringly 2002. s--- on SSLP holds up a little better. beats don't sound like they were made on a cheap casio keyboard, theres a ton of storytelling s---, personal songs aren't so caught up in current events like TES was. i like TES better but it feels older musically, lyrically, etc etc etc
Sep 17, 2017 That's a stupid statment. Of course not 100 percent of any group of people will believe anything is 'classic' but if the general consensus is it is, then it is. The majority of what... It is widely agreed upon that illmatic is one of the best rap albums of all time I italicized objective for a reason, it's not objective as in fact but its objective as in the majority of the subjective thoughts pulled to one side.
