Dec 14, 2024I like Snoop a little more than you I guess. He's not a top tier rapper but I enjoy his music usually.
Not mad at most of these Dre beats either just that they gave 50/Em such a boring one.
Would probably give this around a 7 which is just, good. A few standouts like Fire, Thank You, a lot of decent/good songs. Nothing really bad.
Really wish Mary Jane had a different hook lmao because I love the rest of it.
@Ripper Roo I wasn't a fan of the singles either (minus Gorgeous) and think the em/50 collab is kinda meh too -for that line up- so you might enjoy some other songs as well!

Bro you're f---ing crazy 50's Fire was dope. I love that beat lol.
And yeah Left To Right and Who R U are definitely right there with this one for me. All are just terrible.
Little Engine and Road Rage are on a tier slightly higher for me.
And what kills me is that all of these are within the last 10 years. He is falling off so badly.
And it's not that I wanted old music I just want a good music. This is not that in my opinion.
I might be missing some but I believe Dope and Lock It Up are the only beaches made that I've really enjoyed post-Compton.Poly, Ordinary Joel and Evad like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Snoop's discography sucks but Blue Carpet Treament was definitely a highlight in his career.
In terms of recent album, "I Wanna Thank Me" stands out. It had a handful of really good songs.Ordinary Joel, GCasper and Justin Trudeau like this. -

What I saw is that some people are mad this doesn't sound like Doggystyle. I'm a nostalgia guy so I get that feeling but I like most of this modern Dre production! What is the general concensus?
And your thoughts?Ordinary Joel, Modli2 and Justin Trudeau like this. -

Sounds pretty decent to me. First Snoop Album I'll finish in a long time. Dre's production is not what is was but it's not the 00's anymore. It's still easy on the ears.Ordinary Joel, Modli2 and Michael Myers like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

I might need to listen to this album a few more times…but…
My first reaction is meh…dre is overrated now?…his image/past is bigger than his quality now…the expectations are so huge now that he can’t live up to it imo…Eminem albums still live up to it imo
I’m getting from snoop what I expected so I can’t hate on him, I always enjoy some of his stuff he puts out…but dre hype is sooo much higher
the expectations would be so much less if this wasn’t a collabo album…snoop project would be fine
I was expecting more but maybe I need to listen to this more…
Dr.Dre hype train is just unrealistic…he needs to be put back into a category of good producers…he’s past his prime….not GOAT status
he is better off just producing and featuring on few tracks so there’s not as much pressure…leave it as a snoop album so his reputation stays upLast edited: Dec 13, 2024Ordinary Joel, GCasper and Ricky like this. -

Even when Kush and INAD first came out EVERYONE knew they were made by Khalil and Alex da kid, nobody thought they were Dre beats and Dre wasn't even credited as a producer on neither of those tracks.
Compton has a lot of different producers on it and they were all credited for their work
"Helped" is a right word when it comes to Scott. He was a keyboard player on 2001, not a producer yet. He is officially credited on all of the songs he worked on the album.
The only example of him not giving a credit in his post-Death row days that we know of was when he didn't mention DJ Quik doing drums on In da ClubOrdinary Joel, Modli2 and GCasper like this. -

Kush
Compton had quite a few producers
Scott Storch has helped him a lot
I'm sure there's more. What I mean is that he makes people think all of these are just him. I personally haven't really heard him thank these people or even give a shout out. But not doing this, it gives the impression that he wants people to think these are all him. I personally feel like he's more of a mixer than a beat producer.Ordinary Joel, Modli2 and asvdawg like this. -
