Nov 22, 2015 But not as inspiring, motivational and hard-hitting as Eminem's latest single Kings Never Die from the movie Southpaw
Nov 22, 2015 I purchased and listened to t-ts yesterday. I think that it is a really good album and that he did a very good job. I found it to be very enjoyable. I'm not a Logic "stan" just to let you know. Just wanted to add my little 2 cents.
Nov 22, 2015 Three weeks ago I was shi--ing on Logic until I gave Under Pressure a second listen. Can't stop listening to g--- Related tbh. Not ready to move on.
Nov 22, 2015 See? You gotta dive deep and really listen to understand how godly yung Bobby really is.
Nov 22, 2015 @Chad Warden it's just kind of an amalgam of imitations of artists he likes. Like, on "I Am the Greatest" he basically recreates an Oddisee beat and raps like he was recording an IYRTITL reference track for Drake. The first song he basically splices two 808s beats together. One song he jacks a beat from Days Before Rodeo (lol). Young Jesus sounds like any generic "bring back the 90s" rapper. "Upgrade" sounds like he tried to utilize the pre-GKMC Kendrick sound for himself. He kinda just raps like he's doing his best J. Cole impression at a lot of points. It's not horrible music. I understand why someone would like it. But there's very little that's original about it. I think he's most interesting when does the sing-song stuff.
Nov 22, 2015 Antidote is a good example of influence, not biting. If bc is correct (idk i haven't listened) straight up recreating someone else's beat is what I'd call being on the biting end of the spectrum
Nov 22, 2015 Yeah but most of the og Travis fans like him because he did his own thing like with half of owl Pharaoh, and had that Western trap sound on dbr, and has moments of creativity on rodeo. Him doing other people's styles is kind of only accepted because he does so much fresh s---, and tbh he killed sremm at their own s--- with antidote
Nov 22, 2015 That's influence bcuz he's not straight jacking lines and beats, is what I'm saying. Plus, not everything about the song is drake influenced, drake never has that Western vibe that's all Travis and he uses distortion more. I know I'm arguing minor details and overall it is "Travis Scott as drake" but I'm js there's a difference between singing like someone for half a song and straight up remaking their beat
