So many unbelievable moments in sports we witnessed this year. Now I'm only 21 and aware that professional sport has been around a lot longer than I have but this has probably got to be the biggest year in sports in terms of upsets and record breaking moments I've ever seen.
I'll post some of the biggest stories that I've followed, feel free to input on other moments i've missed.
NBA
Cleveland Cavaliers
What an unbelievable finals series, they were down 3-1 against GSW who just achieved the greatest regular season record of all time and were starting to be looked at as one of the greatest teams of all time. But LeBron happened, no way he was going to accept another finals loss and pulled of a near impossible comeback. It all came down to the dying seconds were LeBron from outta nowhere blocked Iguodala which lead to Kyrie knocking down a clutch 3. What an upset.
MLB
Chicago Cubs
Honestly, I don't know much about Baseball and really dont have much to say about this, except for this is Bill Murray's team, but it's been 108 years since their last world series, such a long drought for a big team.
UFC
Conor McGregor
Could he be bigger than the UFC? I mean d--- this guy has turned into a megastar. In 2016 he became the first UFC fighter to hold two belts to his name being the Lightweight and Featherweight champion. Unfortunately doesn't have the featherweight due to inactivity but it was still an amazing achievement, but can he try to do it again?
AFL
Western Bulldogs
Had to add an Australian sport into this post because it deserves its spot. It's considered extremely unlikely to make the Grand Final finishing outside the top 4. After finishing the 2016 season in 7th position, the Bulldogs managed to defeat last years runners up, then last years champions, then GWS in a last second nail biter to defeat the Sydney Swans in the Grand Final, they were the true underdogs all the way through yet still managed to hold the trophy at the end.
Premier League
Leicester City
Wow....... just wow....... Could this be the biggest underdog victory of all time? I mean cmon at the start of the season sports betting companies had this team with a 5000/1 chance of winning the Premier League. In a sport where the is no salary cap and money wins everything, this small club did the unimaginable. You could say the the big clubs struggled with inconsistency but that doesnt take anything away from their achievements. Bow down Leicester. JAMIE VARDY IS HAVING A PARTY.Last edited: Jan 5, 2017YaBoyTr, OwI, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and 8 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

- Thread: Athlete vs Artist: NYC Edition
Aug 2, 2016
So, the first one of these compared Jordan and Kanye with Jordan coming out on top. With this poll, I pose the question: Who is bigger, more important, and more influential to the culture and community of NYC and who reps it better?
I had a tougher time picking the artist and the athlete for this one. I contemplated Babe Ruth, Biggie, 50 Cent, Lou Gehrig, and more. Ultimately, I determined that the most important athlete and most important artist to represent NYC has to be: Jay-Z and Derek Jeter.
Jay-Z is an undeniable GOAT. Some would say he carried on a legacy that Biggie began in NYC. He has 13 number one albums (most by any solo artist), is known for repping that Yankee hat wherever he goes, and made the anthem to NYC and hit-single, "Empire State of Mind." His legacy as a New York great is extremely cemented.
Jeter on the other hand, brought arguably the most famous baseball team in the world five world series championships to the city of New York as the centerpiece superstar of the team. He will go down as the greatest yankee of all time, and arguably one of the greatest baseball players of all time. His legacy in the city is also undeniable.
The question is: Athlete or artist?(This ad goes away when signing up) -

I heard someone on twitter asking if this is bigger than the 81 point game, was kinda surprised to hear that but it very well might be more surprising at least. I mean Kobe was in his prime when he dropped 81 and had huge scoring performances even a few weeks before that, so it wasn't a shock. This year's Kobe has been banged up all year and has basically had trouble standing up/walking at times.
As the game went along tonight I thought it was actually possible they could win, and was getting crazy into it somehow hoping for a W(which I didn't expect at all before the game). A lot of the other Lakers had awesome plays tonight too, Clarkson had an awesome 360 dunk (Byron immediately took him out after this, me and people seated around me were laughing about that), Tarik Black had a huge block late in the game, Nance had some real athletic plays.
We were all jumping up and down and hugging/bonding with random strangers lol, everyone was having the time of their lives really. I just kept shaking my head in disbelief that it was happening, I had high expectations for tonight but this went way beyond them. There were cameras all over me and some others celebrating and bouncing around outside the arena afterwords lol, not sure what station it was for but may look for it tomorrow. The atmosphere was comparable to an NBA finals game which is just insane for a regular season game that technically meant nothing in terms of the standings.
Best finale for any player in any sport ever, and I really doubt anyone ever tops it. Of course leaving after a title would be better, but I mean as far as individual performances go. -
