It was depressing mostly cause of his health issues.. Such dark times for a person having to deal with his best friend's death and be so heavy on drugs that cant even remember his life back then..
Musically he was kinda involved in many things but nothing special.. His guest verses was like a ghost of himself trying to rap. And that was way more vivid back then considering how big em was up until 04.
Even the industry didnt felt the same during that hiatus. I remember waiting for a feature or something to remind me a bit of good old em but even on re up he sounded like he was done with it.
I remember when em got hospitalized and obie getting shot in the head, I honestly thought he will never gonna make it after that even when he survived od.

It was really depressing to see prime em getting down the spiral like that musically combined with all those personal issues.

He was still making music and was still in the headlines so it never really felt like he was gone. But I do remember playing that "I'm having a relapse" freestyle on repeat for hours straight when he was in album promo mode.
And to be honest, after Encore, D12 World and Proofs death it was very understandable why he stepped away from the limelight.

You Don't Know, Shake That, Smack That, Touchdown, Welcome 2 Detroit, No Apologies, Peep Show, I'll Hurt You - Eminem made some of the best tracks of his career. It was a million times better than Kamikaze now. Eminem did not release solo albums, but when he appeared as a guest on any track, it was just like fire. It was incredibly simple. I love that time.

This was one of his best performances in his entire career! And it was just in that very period!

I’m not comparing anything to current em even tho I disagree.. I’m just sayin that none of these verses or tracks are even close to what em used to be before encore.. I only exclude when I’m gone and no apologies from what I said but no apologies is partly written during his prime..

Haha wow I just lost 2 hours of my life going through old Encore threads funny to see everyone reacting... I remember thinking the leaked album was a fake at first to combat piracy and that was why all the joke songs. Kinda made sense at the time lol

Hilarious to see all the people hating on Eminem show too and the occasional dude saying Encore better then Eminem Show. Too funny.

And so many people trashing Like Toy Soldiers giving it a 3/10 and s--- like that lmao. That song is a classic to me. Still hits the rotation occasionally.
