It was an interesting time for sure but if you followed rap music closely at that time then you will know just how active he was with Shade 45. Eminem did plenty of interviews and appearances on there throughout his hiatus, there were freestyles released and skits performed just for the radio station. Encore was released at the end of 2004 which meant singles such as Like Toy Soldiers and Mockingbird and a--- Like That were played and the videos were played well into 2005. He also guest appeared on songs with other artists at that time.

Of course 2005 brought Curtain Call and with it 3 new songs When I'm Gone, Fack and Shake That and 2 were released as singles. Shake That being played well into 2006.

2006 brought about Cashis and Stat Quo and with that the entire Re Up album where he again appeared on many songs and those songs trailed well into 2007. Akon's Konvicted album had the hit single Smack That which kept him on radio and MTV and the remix of that song was also released as a single in 2007. Obie Trice released his second studio album in 2007 also where Eminem did I think all the production bar a few songs.

So if you were just a mainstream fan you would have felt his absence but if you were a rap fan that followed rap music closely and you listened to other rap artists, Eminem was barely gone at all. T.I released Touchdown with Eminem at the end of 2007. It really was only 2008 where he didn't do much at all apart from a song with Trick Trick but he released a ton of skits for Shade 45 in 2008. Solo music? Yes his absence was felt but he did enough stuff on his own and with other people where he either had his music videos playing on TV regularly or he was in someone else's music videos and there was regular music coming out either featuring his vocals or his production.

Post Malone released his third album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, today, and to mark the occasion, he sat down with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe for an expansive interview. During the 40-minute conversation, the pair talked about a lot of things, including the reason why a collaboration between Malone and Eminem didn’t come to pass, despite mutual interest in the idea.

Malone said that while he tried to make a song with Eminem, the timing just wasn’t right for it to happen, saying, “What a f*cking legend. […] There was a time where we were working everything out but just timing-wise, sometimes they just don’t match up at the right time. There will be a time.”

He also touched on his issues with the media’s response to Lil Peep’s death, saying, “I remember when Peep died and there was a bunch of shaming like on social media, like, ‘Oh these kids doing all their f*cking drugs.’ At the same time, you don’t know what someone is going through and you don’t know how easy it is just to get caught up in something to the point where you can’t stop. It’s not your fault. You don’t need somebody to talk down to you or say, ‘Oh, you shouldn’t do drugs.’ You need somebody to be there to give you the support that you need as a friend or a family member. I’ve been there. It’s f*cking hard.”

Watch Post Malone’s full interview with Zane Lowe above.

Hollywood’s Bleeding is out now via Republic Records.

Haha yeah right. Eminem probably wanted to save face and say “yeah let’s do a song”, then just uses timing as an excuse lol
