Nov 22, 2015 Uhhh okay so i just watched Phantom Menace the other day and it's f---ing HORRIBLE I intended to watch all 6 of them before the new one comes out (and I think I still do...) but the only essentials are the original trilogy. If you don't like A New Hope or Empire, this isn't for you. So I would just start here, and only check out the prequels if you become a full-fledged fan and feel like you need to see the whole story
Nov 22, 2015 Well, I'm familiar with some of the characters and names but as far as the plot goes I'm not familiar with that at all
Nov 23, 2015 I wouldn't avoid the prequals. Start with the original but def go back and watch the prequals. The prequals build the story so much more. it gives you a background of how things came to be. The original trilogy by far is the best. The prequals could've done better with acting and dialogue but other than that they build the story so much more and make it so much better. I've been recently watching all of them waiting for the new one George Lucas explained it recently saying the prequals and all of Star Wars were meant to be a soap opera based on the skywalker family. You can see that in the prequals
Nov 23, 2015 Prequels are such a waste of time. I know some people love them, but they don't do anything but ruin the sequence to which people SHOULD watch Star Wars (since Lucas has insanely suggested that people watch from Episode 1 to 6, in that order) @Mano don't waste your time with the prequels, trust me. The only prequel that matters is Revenge of the Sith, and it's seriously not that good. Spoiler I liked Star Wars far more when the past was open to interpretation and folklore. When the Force was this mystical energy field. The prequels took that away. Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones were awful too.
Nov 23, 2015 You and I have already discussed the prequels, you don't need to be so sensitive about this. Why are you so god d--- defensive about them? This is the second time you've gotten pissy with me for no reason. I've known @Swizz since 2004, and @Mano for almost the same amount of time, they won't like the prequels, it's a waste of time for them. I warned Swizz not to rewatch TPM because I knew he'd hate it, and look, he hated it. It's the same case for Mano.
Nov 23, 2015 I'm not being sensitive, I just don't understand why literally every time people like you discuss Star Wars you have to take time to s--- on the prequels so heavily. I get it, you don't like them, but seriously f--- off of them already.
Nov 23, 2015 "I get it, you don't like them." I wasn't even talking to you though. Why are you taking it so personal?
Nov 23, 2015 if all you ever saw was the same bs from someone constantly shi--ing on something you adored you'd be just as annoyed don't play dumb
Nov 23, 2015 I've literally mentioned the prequels twice in this thread, and once was because of you, the other was because two posters, who I've known since I've started posting, were either re-watching or considering watching the series, so I made a suggestion to THEM, not YOU. There's no reason to be annoyed. You can freely s--- on Empire Strikes Back, and I wouldn't care. You're entitled to your opinion. I just know Swizz and Mano will hate the prequels, so I told them don't waste their time with them. I'm sorry that something you adore is a punch line to most Star Wars' fans, but it's seriously no reason to get defensive about it. People are always going to s--- on them, or make a joke about them. It shouldn't take away from your experiences of watching them, or your admiration. However, if anyone asks for an opinion on the films, or a suggestion in an open discussion, then I can definitely share my views. You can feel free to do so too, but stop acting like I'm making a personal attack on you for every time I say I dislike them.
Nov 23, 2015 I recently got the Revenge of The Sith limited edition blu ray and the film was nowhere near as good as I remembered...so let down but that final battle with Anakin and Obie is still goat
Nov 23, 2015 i made the same mistake of sitting through that horse s---. To be extremely fair, there was about 5 minutes of cool light saber scenes in that movie? (lol) Afterwards I told my friend about my pure disgust of the first movie and that it was off putting to watch number 2 and 3 after. He then suggested I look for something called The last turn to the Dark side. Which is a fan edit of movies 1, 2 and 3. it cuts out nearly all of episode 1, apart from the last battle, then it goes into 2 and cuts out lots of filler, and focuses on Anakin/his turn to the dark side as the central plot. It's a lot better than watching 1, 2 then 3 IMO. (even though i'd say the acting is pretty bland in a lot of parts.) if @Mano or anyone else feels like getting into the prequels look for Last turn to the dark side. off the top of my head it's about 2 and a half hours too which is a lot shorter than the 3 movies in total.
Nov 23, 2015 Yeah The Phantom Menace s----d a--- I just like Darth Maul but as a whole the movie was s---
Nov 23, 2015 also wtf @ this scene Anakin: If you're not with me you're against me Obi: Only a Sith deals in absolutes. I mean is this just more poor dialogue from the prequels, or foreshadowing that Jedi and Sith are both "good" and "bad"
