Dec 19, 2015 "You're afraid you won't be as powerful as Darth Vader" I knew that was going to be my favorite scene.
Dec 19, 2015 I understand this, but you gotta remember a few things. They are going for a different type of villain with Kylo. Spoiler The main thing is they want him to be unpredictable. I honestly think Kylo is going to be conflicted but extremely powerful as the series goes on, which makes him even more dangerous, in my eyes. He was never supposed to be Vader. That's the point. He's unhinged, he's impulsive, he's damaged, way more than Vader ever was. He has flaws and deeper roots than Anakin did. Watch, he's going to be a way more interesting character than Villain. Kylo was also injured before his fight with Finn/Rey, and was bleeding a ton. I think he's going to come back even stronger in 8. and I think he'll be even more unstable. When I was reading the spoilers, it sounded like Kylo doesn't take off his mask until the light saber battle with Finn, and that they didn't reveal him being Han and Leia's son until Han gets stabbed with the light saber... I thought that would've been way better, but aw well. I seriously believe Kylo is the type of character that will become crazy powerful, because he has clear motivation and the Skywalker genes to do so. He's been embarrassed, and I think that makes him even scarier for the next film. People keep saying Finn held his own, and Rey did too, but fail to realize Kylo got shot in the side right before that fight, and he still beat Finn. He was also toying with Rey too, and wanted to bring her to the dark side. I don't think Kylo was actually trying to k--- her. I look at it like, what the f--- did Han do to him? He seemed upset when he read Rey's mind and saw that she saw Han as a father figure. Why? He seemed like he hated Han. Was Han a bad father? Why does Kylo want to stay away from the Light? IDK, I just found it really interesting. Also, like I said before, they did a New Hope 2, because this was a remake, to reintroduce the series. They played it safe, because of the "failure" of the prequels. Now, if they make Episode 8 too safely, I will DEFINITELY have a problem. Also, it's unknown whether or not Finn is going to train as a Jedi. There was speculation that the reason that Finn resisted the ways of Storm Troppers is because the Force is strong within him, and it calls to him too. Finn was the character that I was most excited about, and I really hope they expand on him in the next film.
Dec 19, 2015 Wow, great post man. I hope I'll come to like his character. If they do a fraction of what you just posted with him, that'll be incredible.
Dec 19, 2015 Also Spoiler Kylo knows who Rey is... I read that, in the novel, Kylo knows exactly who she is, and used to train with her when they were little at Luke's academy... And the mask that Kylo wears is the mask for the leader of the Knights of Ren, a group that's sole purpose is to hunt down and destroy Jedi... I think the Knights of Ren must've been edited out of the movie though, because they definitely promoted them lol, but they were only mentioned... So, it looks like Kylo does the massacre, but he's actually kidnapped by the Knights and brainwashed by them. While Rey was thought to be dead, or Kylo ends up hiding her and saving her, that's speculation though. Kylo is supposed to be like 8 years older than Rey, and Rey was supposedly super young during the Jedi massacre, so it's understandable that she can't remember it. But yeah, Kylo is a very damaged character. IDK if they're siblings or cousins, but what interested me is that Kylo AUTOMATICALLY wanted Rey to join them, rather than k--- her. Much like Vader wanted Luke to join him rather than k--- him. He might hate Han/Leia, but I seriously think he knows Rey and has a soft spot... IDK, I might be way off, but I keep going back to, why didn't he just f---ing k--- her? Why did he want her to join so quickly?
Dec 19, 2015 I meant in interviews by Driver and JJ Abrams. You're right, they appear in the trailers, and in the movie, but it seemed like the Knights of Ren were going to be more involved with the movie, but were only mentioned once by Snoke.
Dec 19, 2015 TBH I forgot the planet Death Star blew up or whatever but - that said - I've listed my reasoning already. You could be a good poster for once and write something back besides "yikes"
Dec 19, 2015 Spoiler No way Han is alive imo....the was the 'kicker' for this movie, I think JJ really went through with it. It was used to add real mojo to the new character....stabbed, thrown into a huge depth, entire planet explodes. As much as it saddens me (and it really, really does), I think our friend has bitten the dust.
Dec 19, 2015 i totally agree, but i need to see it again. It looks like Kylo turns on one in order to protect Rey. Further proving her Skywalker lineage.
Dec 19, 2015 No it wasn't? I said the conversation was deliberately vague and we don't actually see him die. And yes, in this series, they do rely on operatic bait and switches.... Thought you'd be able to engage in speculative if not deeper level mr fan
Dec 19, 2015 Yeah I know that and yet when the money gets dangled he still plays ball lol. I doubt if they needed him to do a few scenes in a year he would say no like cmonnnn Can't tell what that image is
