Dec 19, 2015 I wondered the same thing, I couldn't tell if he was in white because he was dead and it seemed as if she was saying goodbye, but that could mean she knew she was going to see luke and be gone for a long while for training or something like that. My feeling that I got from the film is he was badly hurt and needed some time to recover like luke did after his brush with death after hoth. Still I'm not sure.
Dec 19, 2015 They definitely built so much more mythology and mystery to build up this trilogy. I can't wait to see this a few more times.
Dec 19, 2015 There is a great book I got ahold of today it's called, star wars before the force awakens and it gives some background on Finn, Rey, and Poe, it gives some great insight to finn, I read rey and it only goes back to a couple years from the movie where she is still on jakku, but goes into how great of a mechanic and how she became a pilot. I'm onto the Poe Dameron section now.
Dec 19, 2015 just found a stream for this, omfg... still probably go see it in the theater but d---.. can't believe there's already a watchable copy.
Dec 19, 2015 looked like a blurry hd, but it was apparently setup to where it cuts off after a few minutes and you have to do a survey to watch anymore of it... so... looking for a new copy again
Dec 19, 2015 I know it's the holiday time but this movie is definitely worth the money to go see in theaters.
Dec 19, 2015 hopefully what i'm hearing about this being little more than a giant nostalgia circlejerk is an overreaction, because I was worried about that from the jump with the way this was being made/promoted/what we've seen about it before it was out
Dec 19, 2015 I mean *SPOILER ALERT KINDA PLEASE DONT READ MORE IF YOU DONT WANT ANY INFO* Yes it pays huge homage to A New Hope in terms of plot, but honestly it does it in such a beautiful way in which character roles are switched and it balances homage with new story enough where you're excited about the potential direction it goes next and it handled a lot about the original wonderfully without it feeling too much like strictly fan service. It's a remake but leave so much room to go forward.
Dec 19, 2015 I mean yes, if you thought this return wouldn't have its faults, then you had unrealistic expectations to begin with. Not saying that your critique is unfair, but that's just that. That being said, I didn't mind *SPOILERS* Kylo's lack of power against Finn and Rey. He obviously showed a lot of force power throughout the movie, but honestly when would he need to use a light saber in this universe before Finn pulled it out? Obviously he was trained but would never of had a real chance to use it before then, you know? No one else but him had one. Also I love his character. I was bit thrown off when he took off the helmet but it progressed really well for me. Adam Driver took what Anakin was supposed to be and made it right. He was a conflicted, frustrated character but never came off as too bitchy (except maybe the scene where he talked to Snoke without his helmet, but that's honestly nothing too significant to complain about.) Honestly, one of the things I noticed most is how much Kylo looked like Hayden's Anakin when he was at his most desperate in the last battle, it's almost as if JJ knew the only positive thing about Hayden in the prequels (Hayens face during the battle of Mudtafar) but found an actor who could emulate that without the same whiny qualities. And there's still so much about his character we don't know. Pretty great if you ask me.
Dec 19, 2015 I truly believe this too. I think Kylo has a soft spot for Rey and he's the reason she survived. It's the only reason I can come up with for him not wanting to k--- her immediately, and wanting her to join him, much like Vader with Luke. I got chills when Rey ignited the light saber though.
Dec 20, 2015 You guys gotta remember, Kylo was injured by Chewy's shot. He was bleeding a ton when he went to meet Finn and Rey in the forest. Plus, he clearly was not trying to k--- Rey. It reminded me a lot of Vader vs Luke in Empire Strikes Back. I think Rey is Luke's daughter, and although Kylo hates Han/Leia, he has a soft spot for Rey. Hence why he immediately wanted her to join him. Kylo did have some great one-liners in the movie though. I think Kylo is actually going to turn good, or go off the charts evil. He seems way more conflicted than Vader ever was.
Dec 20, 2015 i mean of course I didn't expect the movie to be flawless, but that doesn't mean we can't discuss the things we disliked lol
Dec 20, 2015 To be fair, Kylo was shot by Chewbaca's gun and was injured. Plus he apparently wasn't fully trained either.
