They're not great though. Bland characters, horrible dialogue, weak performances. They play out like they were written in a weekend (probably were) and Lucas tried to fix the whole thing by smearing CGI s--- all over the screen. Some decent casting, pioneering effects work and fantastic scores do not polish a turd.

Let's be honest folks, The Force Awakens is the closest we get to the original trilogy + TFA s----s on every prequel.

PS. I love EVERY Star Wars movie.

Good thing that's your opinion and nothing more.

Thought the characters were great and far more interesting than the bland s--- in the OT. The dialogue was fine, it was realistic and also interesting for the most part. Have few problems with the performances, but I have just as many with the OT. Everyone whining about the CGI is such bs anymore, there's nothing wrong with the effects and they suit the film, and they are FAR better than the effects in the OT.

I was about 2 minutes in to TFA when I suddenly realised "holy s---, this is gonna be good". I was waiting for the film to fall off, looking for things to criticise, and it didn't happen. I just grinned like a child as the film continued to do cool things. It's not perfect, definitely plays things too close to the original at times, but it's just so much fun.

I still have some nostalgia for Episode 1. I was a kid when that came out and it blew my mind. Double f---ing lightsaber and all that.

Oh yeah, definitely, I have that nostalgia too, I remember when my uncle gave me DVD with Phantom Menace, good old times.
It was really dope back then, but the older I get the more I can realize what's wrong with prequel trilogy...

There is nothing wrong with CGI when it's used with consideration. In prequel trilogy CGI was all over the screen leading it to the situation when you feel like you are watching a video game with real actors.

I don't feel like that was the case. And the vast majority of the time what people claim was CGI in the prequels wasn't. They had more practical effects and models per movie than the entire OT, and they were used in combination with CGI perfectly for the most part, imo

Also I blame Lucas for so much wasted potential with the prequels. Whole storyline about leading Anakin to turn to the Dark Side and become Darth Vader was so underwhelming. It could be such a great trilogy, but a lot of mistakes was commited during making of those movies.

Honestly wish they would've just not even done the whole ST thing, but moved on in the SW universe and done something else entirely. We didn't need a continuation of the story there, and the threw out great ones if they were going to go that way.

Would much rather have seen a KOTOR trilogy.

Can't imagine what a movie based on stuff like this would've been like

Old Republic movie would be good. I wouldn't be shocked to see those appear after Episode 9. I heard rumours about a KOTOR remake too. I want that s--- right now.

Denial is just the first stage of grief man, we'll help you through it.

I've been there. I watched the prequels a bunch, and told myself it was okay. I said to myself "Jar Jar isn't so bad, he's for the kids". I told myself Yoda flipping around like a caffeinated Kermit was cool. Yeah Anakin is annoying in Ep 1, yeah he's a petulant f--- in Ep.2, but he's okay in 3 for a little while I guess etc etc.

Then came the anger. I read all the boards, looked up the plot holes. Bitched about wasted characters and wasted potential. I watched the brilliant Red Letter Media reviews obliterate them completely, as well as others, and joined a legion of disillusioned fans.

After that there is bargaining. Maybe they can be saved. "If I read about this EU thing, the characters makes more sense." I checked out a couple of fan edits in the hopes that a good film could be found. The Phantom Edits of 1 & 2 helped a lot, but not enough. He didn't even attempt part 3 because he deemed it beyond saving.

That's when the depression settles in. These films are f-----. Ewoks were pretty bad, but after this new trilogy, Star Wars is batting 50%. Worse still, Lucas continues to fiddle the original films like vulnerable schoolchildren. I watch the Belated Media 'What If They Were Good?' series (they're fantastic btw) and sigh. Such brilliance, reduced to slop.

Finally, with TFA, Star Wars lives again, and brings with it acceptance. Yes, the prequels were eye-r---, but now we can move on with our lives.

Dude f--- off with that snobby bs.

I don't agree with you about it and never will. I genuinely appreciate the prequels and like what they are. Not going to change at all, and I'm not alone either. End of.
