Leo is an amazing actor, that said, he was vry bland in Inception. His best performance is in The Wolf of Wall Street imo. He was also really really great in The Aviator & Django.

No. When Nolan learns how to stop while he's making a film we will get a real masterpiece from him. I hope that happens soon because he has a lot of talent.

What? He overacts far more in Django... how is Cobb poorly written/hollow? Inception is a quintessential DiCaprio role -- if you don't like him here, not sure I can see you enjoying him in x Scorsese performances either

It's not a GOAT film or anything, but it's really entertaining and well put together.

but wtf is with everybody criticizing great leo performances in this thread? like, forget Inception, his performance in Django is one of the best things about the film. @Narsh @captain awesome

The Django performance is obviously classic.

Overacting works in Django? He's a comical villain? The only overacting he really does in Inception is that one specific scene with his wife anyway. Saying it's a quintessential role doesn't mean anything. Break down why you think it works if you want to have an argument.
@Vahn agrees it's nothing special. Let's not pretend I'm being contrarian when I'm sure tons of people agree.

Okay, what? I've already stated in this thread what I think Dicaprio excels at, and how his work in Inception is the epitome of what makes him a compelling screen presence. I'm not pretending you're being anything, I'm responding to a post you made?

@Narsh perhaps, but as I've said, I don't think it's the right kind of role for him. He's a little miscast, imo.

Look, Django is entertaining, but it's also Tarantino's most conventional film. Speaking of bland, Jamie Foxx was extremely lost, imo. I'm likely the contrarian on this forum, but I recently rewatched it and was rly struck by how underwritten the lead is (hence why Will Smith passed). Waltz and Jackson are great - Foxx isn't, and Dicaprio is just a wee bit outside his comfort zone. Inception is right down the middle of him, and I thought he was quite good in it.
