Jun 24, 2015 hm im indifferent to this opinion -- i get it, for sure. i kind of like the tonal shift tho, and the subtext of batman being this kind of undead monster -- the horror elements arent campy to me personally, they color what his impact on gothams criminals was like.
Jun 24, 2015 Nah, I think he's alive. Alfred wanted Bruce to hang it up. He saved the city one more time and finally did so he could go live his own life. "They were there. They were real. There was no imagination. They were real and he was with Anne, the cat lady, and I was happy ever after for him as I told him during the picture." - Michael Caine on the ending. Yep. Stupid as s---. If he didn't think his debt to the city was paid, he would have quit earlier. Besides, he had JGL to carry on at the end. Same problem I have with the entirety of Inception, only condensed into 20-25 minutes. Too much in too little time. How Bruce got back to Gotham in the first place, JGL going from cop to someone who's apparently going to be competent enough to be Batman/Nightwing, the cafe scene. Spoiler Bane and Cotillard's deaths are awful as well.
Jun 24, 2015 agreed -- i mean, the film has its issues, for sure. (katie holmes... the horribly edited sequence where bruce wayne is watching her from a pay phone despite the fact she's inside) speaking of that sequence, i always wished they fleshed out the fact the DA was boning her/attempting to bone her. editing is one of the films weak spots
Jun 24, 2015 yeah this is one of the laugh out loud @ the screen moments for me So how did Bruce survive the nuke? lol
Jun 24, 2015 There's a scene where Bruce is told that the bat plane has auto pilot. He set it to go out to the ocean and just left the city some other way.
Jun 24, 2015 i know that scene exists, but, i forgot specifically how at the moment, they even made that "ambiguous" like saying it wasnt supposed to be working or something/never showing it get fixed, or showing Batman in the vehicle moments before the explosion (which vehicle it is is ambiguous too) etc not a big deal, but tied in with all the other s--- @ the end (cafe scene, etc) i just h8 it all lol
Jun 24, 2015 A thread about Jackie Brown and all anyone wants to talk about is the aborted fetus of Nolan's filmography. smh I don't think I'd put it in the "canon" (I get the impression that's reserved for the absolute best of the best?) but it's definitely a great film. Possibly Samuel L Jacksons best performance.
Jun 24, 2015 I don't think I've seen every major film Jackson's done but he's also incredible in Django
Jun 24, 2015 For the record, @CharlieWork I think this is a pretty good idea. If the film selections are good I think this could facilitate a lot of great discussion. But that all hinges on which movies are put up for debate.
Jun 24, 2015 Love it. Saw it the day it came out... Also, got my "band apart" logo tatted on my arm that day.
Jun 24, 2015 I watched this movie when i was 8 and only liked scary movies and kids films and even i thought it was great, i dont know how people dont like it i think it might be one of tarantinos best movies, probably top 3
Jun 24, 2015 out of all his films, this is the one that's LEAST like tarantino's style. meaning, it not really over the top like most of his other movies i think its very good, but it def drags
Jun 24, 2015 my favorite viewing of Jackie Brown ever was the time i started it on one flight, landed, made my connection, and watched the second half on the next flight. it's great, but i think that's telling.
Jun 25, 2015 Woah every thread turns to a Tarantino thread and if it's a Tarantino thread to begin with it becomes a Nolan thread :mindfck:
