@WPG how long does it usually take for you to write these?

i realize it probably varies a bit based on the length of the article/story

but generally speaking, how long do these take to put together?

Great write up. I remember this time vividly and I don't think many really grasp how of a star this guy became that year. T.I. was so f---ing big the first 3 quarters of 2006 it was insane. Beginning the year with What You Know and ending it with a verse on My Love>>>>>

Sidenote- Looking back at the early-mid 00's the thing I really, really miss were the gigantic "event" type singles like What You Know. f--- I miss those times.

When I first copped this album, I was going through T.I.'s entire discography at the time. I think Trap Muzik is his best album but King really is something. It's got the refinement of the trap sound that T.I. helped bring to the forelight (but Jeezy capitalized and enhanced on) with some of the traditional Atlanta sensibilities at the time (like OutKast). If you wanted to feel like you were in Atlanta, this was the album for you as it had many bass boomin tracks; reflective tracks ("Live in the Sky") and certain off-field tracks; ("Goodlife") plus it's more consistent meaning it's a fuller project than Trap Muzik; one that can be appreciated more upon multiple listens in it's entirety. Trap Muzik may have been his breakthrough but "King" is his realization and he himself was reflective of the title at the time.

@WPG nice write up. I f---ing love this album. King has a lot of nostalgia tied to it, a lot of nights drunk with 20 other people with this album on full blast. Good times haha.

No Mercy sounded decent when I was in high school until I went back and listened to trap muzik and King... I realized how much better TI actually was.

No year will ever feel as epic as 2006 in Hip-Hop ever again. Or in music and entertainment, period. V For Vendetta. RVD winning The WWE Title and being the biggest pothead in the world which conflicted with Wellness Policy stipulations. Dedication 2 (Greatest Mixtape of All Time, arguably.). Pop Punk was making a comeback along with the introduction of Hip-Prep Academia-themed Alternative Hip-Hop Sub-Genres introduced by acts like Gym Class Heroes. Emergency (My Favorite Paramore song that I hadn't discovered until about 5 years ago. But that's besides the point.). I mean. s---. I hated high school. But that year was quite a time to be alive, b------s. I'm sad and old now.
