It revolutionized the found footage genre but I’m not sure if that’s a good thing.

So in your opinion not many found footage movies are good? Man REC of course a classic, Cloverfield a classic, although its not horror Chronicle is one of my favorite movies you should watch that, of course Paranormal Activity and Troll Hunter. There's a lot of dope movies using the found footage style and if they do it right it can be very powerful and immersive.

I get what u mean but the shaky camera s--- annoys the f--- out of me, PA didn't annoy me as much because the camera wasn't in their hands the whole time.

I get that it makes it more unpredictable which is kinda creepy but I'm not a fan of that type of movies, at all

Yeah I feel you I'm not a huge fan of the shaky camera thing either thats why I like Chronicle, it was compiled using different cameras and s---, it's not a horror film though you should watch it if you're into sci fi movies

I watched Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009). They're pretty well made for what they are. He really makes the property his own by establishing Myers' home life and progression to the silent hulking mass. I think the problem is that Michael Myers works as an existential threat. He's "like the wind", "a force of nature" as Carpenter phrases it. That's what makes him bone chilling. Unmasking him just undermines that power.

The first 30 minutes of the sequel is exactly what I want out of the character, so at least Zombie acknowledges the essence that he's chosen to ignore. Unfortunately, the sequel further transforms Myers into a hobo, dog eater and focuses a lot of its run time on relationships and trauma that just doesn't connect with me. He makes the best of shoehorning his wife into it by having some captivating surreal sequences. The one recalling the silent era with the last supper is especially potent. The ending, however, isn't as poetic. The supernatural element that Zombie eschews and moves into the territory of mental illness makes it all kind of silly imo.

@Charlie Work pretty much sums up my thoughts on the remake of halloween.

Yes its a new take on MM but it takes away what the original take on him made the OG movie so amazing.

You should check out Cold Prey II if you want a pretty cool Myers movie. That's pretty much what it amounts to.
