Nov 1, 2024 The Kills version of Tommy Doyle is the corniest dude ever lmaoo And Marion 'Love lives today, but evil dies tonight' they really ruined those 2 lol
Nov 1, 2024 Halloween Kills There is so much I like about this movie, but I can't deny this is a step down from H2018. Most importantly: the useless characters. I'm always a sucker for nostalgia and bringing people back, but only if they are of some use. Like bringing Marion back for H20 because Michael needed to steal her files on Laurie. But here... out of nowhere she screamed 'evil dies tonight', and then she got killed later on. So corny. Same w Bracket, he was back to say his line from the first movie and add to the fa---- a--- motivational speech bs followed by again... evil dies tonight. The only return that was actually fantastic was Kyle Richards Lindsey. No corny one-liners and no fake attitude. She was legit scared as h---, yet had the courage to face Michael. Glad she survived! But the elefant in the room; Tommy f---ing Doyle. From a scared little s--- to Haddonfields big fighter? You got to be kidding me lmao. Michael killed police officers, 12 fire fighters and other people after being shot and stabbed. But Tommy Doyle and his little bat are gonna k--- him. Thats what he thought and even worse, what other people thought as well standing behind him. Awful character, thats one thing Halloween 6 (Paul Rudd) did way better. And he eventually killed Michael, on his own! And then the mob... they beat him down. How about take apart his body?? Take of his head?? They just shot him 4 times so they knew a few hits with a bat weren't enough. Lonnie Elam also had a hero complex, thinking after all that happened he was gonna, and I quote, 'confront Michael for his deeds' People in horror movies are usually stupid but this is another level. Okay, now the good things. A little thing, since Laurie wasn't his sister in this timeline, I like that Hawkins cleared up Laurie's huge ego. She kept saying it was all about her, Frank told her it was not. He never cared for Laurie, she just visited his house in H1 so he stalked her... it was Sartain that was obsessed w Laurie. But okay back to the start: I love how they made the flashback scene. They recreated the whole 1978 vibe perfectly. Visually, but also using the original score. The little details (like Lonnies clothes, the rope Michael stole in the original, the dog in the Myers house), how Michael moved/walked, the police cars. Also one thing nobody seemed to have noticed is that the kids picking on Lonnie, one said 'you don't f--- with the mullany's'. In Ends, the police officer Alyson dated said the same to Corey. So that was probably his dad. The whole opening was just cool. Also the score was perfect for the whole movie! When he killed the firefighters, Laurie's neighbors, cool scenes. The gay couple vs the trick or treat kids, loved it. 'He stabbed her in the t-ts' lmao. Aside from the whole corny evil dies tonight s---, I did like the hospital scene. Tommy made people go crazy with his s---, being Lauries little attack dog (again, lol). But the way people chased him like sheep even if Bracket and Laurie both said it wasn't him, was crazy but well done. Felt sorry for the dude though. Then the park scene, w Lindsey and the kids was great. Murders of the couple and Marion were cool too. But I forgot one thing w the bad list... Marion said this is for dr. Loomis?? Did the writers forget that in this timeline Loomis was fine and died of old age here? He survived every timelime btw except 6. But aside from the scene being cool, all 3 were so f---ing stupid. Except Lindsey. The mob scene itself was kinda cool imo aside from the stupidity of course, especially when Michael got up and killed them all. Karen and Alyson were great in this movie, but it was weird that somehow they were fine w losing Cameron and Lonnie. Karen baiting Michael was cool. But why did she walk upstairs? And how did people see her go upstairs but somehow Michael managed to get there unnoticed? Karens k--- was brutal, but it was meant to be a cliffhanger, w Laurie calling her. The next movie Laurie was about to go after Michael. That ending is also on the dvd as a special. But somehow they changed it and added a 4 year time jump, which made the impact of Karens death a lot less... and it didn't make much sense either because Laurie spent her whole life preparing. And now he killed her daughter and she's gonna move on? Strange. I realized this review has become so long but it shows, there's a lot of stuff that made me roll my eyes (dumb s---) but I enjoyed most of it still. 7.7/10
Nov 1, 2024 And okay f--- it , its late and I'm just gonna watch some tv and postpone Ends till sunday
Nov 1, 2024 Kills has - Perfect Michael, dude scary as s--- - Beautiful flashbacks that really look old - Laurie killing it - Lots of kills - Big John and Lil John - I'm not a H3 fan but the masks looked very cool, that was a nice touch - Speaking on that, creative trolling Mike is back
Nov 1, 2024 This comes off as you don’t like it but trying to convince yourself that you do, because it’s Halloween and you have an attachment to it. All the positives you talk about are just easter eggs and nostalgia, which is cheap and not valid for a film to be good or not. Films rely on that when the film is severely lacking in story, plot and characters, like the film does.
Nov 1, 2024 This is not entirely true, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm biased and want to like it yeah. And yes, most of the stuff I liked is nostalgia, sure. Even if I did not like all of it like Marion and Bracket. And I agree that most of the story itself is weak, there's no endgame. That would have been okay if part 3 would use it but they barely do. They start mostly from scratch. Basically, I agree with you to an extent but I do genuinly like most of it except some of the obvious bs. Had it been any other franchise I would not have rated it so high though, thats definitely personal preference and bias. 2018 is way better
Nov 1, 2024 Yes I agree and a lot more easter eggs. But supersonic is right that there's no real direction and its mostly just nostalgia bait. Not that it makes me enjoy it any less though but I can see why people don't
Nov 1, 2024 Is it worse than the previous one? yeah, is it one of the best Halloween movies? also yeah
Nov 1, 2024 Ends has a totally different vibe but yes its the end of the saga of course I want to like it. No, I want to love it. But I just think its okay. Sunday evening watching it again
Nov 1, 2024 To me its behind halloween 1, 2018, H4 without a doubt. Not really sure about some of the others
