Colleges do have a negative impact on the country. They're a business who's goal is to put you in debt in every way. They make you take big loans that take forever to pay off with high interest rates. They jack up the prices of books to over $300 and then when you trade them in, sometimes they're not even worth $5. They make you take required courses that have nothing to do with your major...If you're going to be a doctor or lawyer or know exactly what training you need, then yeah, college is a great idea. But if you have no idea what you want to do I wouldn't recommend going, or at least starting out in a community college until you decide.

Yeah... 12 years ago I was forced to listen to Right Wing Talk Radio 12 hours a day and I broke the code...

It was a constant mantra of:

Don't get a higher education...

Don't read newspapers...

Don't join a union...

Respect rich people and fight for their tax breaks...

Be jealous and angry at poor people because their lives are so easy and they are destoying the country and threaten your way of life.

It was easy for me to see that Talk Radio and Fox News was just programming people to be losers who were servents that pulled the (R) lever.

They changed the meaning of "Liberal" to mean "bad"... Then they applied it to the things that poor people can use to inform themselves and end a cycle of poverty.

"Liberal Newspapers"

The NeoCons were in charge of a Republican White House, a Republican majority House, a Republican Majority and a Supreme Court with 7 of 9 Justices appointed by Republican Presidents.

One thing you didn't hear at the time was "big government liberals", because Bush43 grew the federal government by 33% (after Clinton cut the size of the federal government).

If you were a libertarian who was against the Iraq War, against the PATRIOT ACT, against NSA spying on citizens and didn't believe marijuana bought in America funded Al Qaeda... You were considered a flaming liberal.

People like Cindy Sheehan who was some poor old lady who probably had $500 in her bank account who's son died in the Iraq War and she decided to ask why were there instead of blindly following the President was made Public Enemy number 1 by the GOP.

Amazing power the CEC has.

Your government could subsidize costs or help with interest free loans and if they thought college was bad for the same reasons you listed thats exactly what they would do. The fact that they don't do this suggests theyre more afraid of an educated public.

I think NY actually just passed a law that if you go to school in state at certain schools you get to go for free...kind of jealous tbh

A majority of Republicans in a new survey think colleges and universities have a negative effect on the U.S.

The Pew Research Center poll finds 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents think colleges and universities hurt the country.

Just 36 percent of Republicans think they have a positive effect.

In contrast, a large majority of Democrats, 72 percent, say colleges and universities have a positive effect on the country.

Overall, slightly more than half of the public, 55 percent, thinks colleges and universities help the U.S., according to the survey.

The poll also finds partisan divides regarding the national news media and labor unions.

Forty-four percent of Democrats think the national news media has a positive effect on the country, compared to 46 percent of Democrats who think it has a negative effect.

But among Republicans, just 10 percent feel the news media helps the U.S. and 85 percent think it hurts the country.

Fifty-nine percent of Democrats think labor unions have a positive effect, compared to just 33 percent of Republicans who feel the same way.

The survey was conducted from June 8 to 18 among 2,504 adults. The margin of error is 2.3 points.

are you really ok with spending a third of your lifetime reading instead of doing? while also standing in 6 digits of debt?

Now every1 is starting to adept VR & AR technology in education for both academies and workplaces, as an attempt to feed fast knowledge so the job requirements wont outpace the employees. This is probably the biggest misstep in education of this millennium so far if it's implemented the way they predict it to. If education would focus on strengthening versatility and adaptiveness, people would be ready to educate themselves instead of reading instructions, even if theyre in a VR environment.
