Okay? Does that mean we don't get to evaluate them in any meaningful way? You could excuse all kinds of dumb s--- with that line. I'm not locking him in prison and censoring him. I'm simply expressing my feelings as well.

Why would I appreciate his framing of a serious issue that I consider to be detrimental to the discourse of that issue?

Also, I'm not discriminating against mental illness. I seem to be more concerned than anybody about Kanye's well being when I'm taking him to task for handling of it. Of course, I can only do that from a distance. For all I know, on a personal level, they're doing all the right things, but this art he's making about that condition doesn't convey that at all

If it isn't... he's a very good actor. I actually wasn't sold on the idea of him having bipolar until I heard the first two tracks on this album. It makes sense too... Look at his catalogue... He has songs where he's extremely critical of himself and then songs talking about himself like a god. Like compare 808s to Yeezus.

Not sure about that 808s was recorded after his mother passed away completely different head space when that happened

Yeezus was out 5 years later.

Why don't you engage with my opinions then? Surely that'd be a lot more interesting than hurling childish insults at me. Surely somebody who faked their own death to get attention on a forum has a lot to say about how we depict mental illness.

Sometimes things aren't supposed to be evaluated. Like as far as his intentions... He's just trying to express his feelings in the purest way he can imo. The point is likely to get people discussing Bipolar exactly as we're doing now. I don't think he's stating any kind of message himself though. Just expressing his feelings. If you want to talk about the consequences of that... I understand. But I don't think there has to be if you look at it without judgement. It's not like any of what he's expressing is harmful to other people either.

Idk tho bro... If we're gonna disagree we're gonna disagree I guess. I like it. I get where you're coming from though.

Even the song runaway. He's always had this duality to his personality. I think he's either A. Just now making sense of himself and understanding the condition he has. B. Going completely public and being open about it.

Art is always evaluated. That's what makes it art. You're on a forum that facilitates that very process.

An expression is a message. You clearly don't understand because you've repeatedly said I shouldn't interrogate any of this.

If I looked at music without judgement, I wouldn't be on this forum.
And yes, his behavior has proved harmful to himself and this music is an extension/depiction of that behavior.

I feel like you're not getting me. I'm saying I don't think there's a point in evaluating the intentions behind what he's saying. Because I don't think he has any, really. Other than triggering discussion of the condition. Or maybe he just enjoys expressing his feelings. Like when he's talking about it being a superpower... That's a symptom of the condition in itself. Thinking that it is a superpower. He's basically telling us what being Bipolar is like.... Whether intentional or not. Look at it like a diary where you just write down whatever you're feeling or what comes to mind. I don't have any interest in judging that if it's not harming other people.
