I’ve listened to it from beginning to end 3 times. Not a bad album per se, just very...average.

On the bright side, I really like Violent Crimes, and this is nowhere near as bad lyrically as the recent track with T.I. and the guest verse on Pusha T’s album would suggest.

As an aside, anybody think that the album cover is eligible to make the “Shot on iPhone” marketing campaign?

Yeah, I'm disappointed it's not as tightly woven as push's album. It starts and ends so strong but I feel like it gets jumbled sonically a bit in the middle.

So, some random streams pf thought (pun intended) after listening to this album a couple of times:
    1. This album is cohesive, at least musically, as opposed to tlop
    2. Really picks up the quality starting track 4
    3. Except for drugs and being bipolar, he does not adress anything controversial that was expected such as trump slavery jay.
    4. He really should start producing for other artists more
    5. That being said, he often comes of with the least interesting contributions to some tracks compared to the other featured artists.
    6. I am more excited than I was before for kids see ghosts
    7. Charlie Wilson is still the goat of singing in hip hop hooks
    8. I really need to check out 070 shake

I absolutely cannot believe there are people denying this opener though, that and ghost town are the two songs that make me feel a #BIGMOOD the way something like blood on the leaves or street lights made me feel the first time

After hearing the cdq version i like it alot more. Still dont think its amazing, its good. Like a solid f---ing 7.

Id say its better than 808s for me but it definitely wont be more influential, its his second worst. Cudi's part was actually my least favorite thing on here, his singing was sh--.

I like the album a lot, but just to focus on the narrative, I think this is the definitive statement in Kanye's discography that says something broke inside him after Yeezus. Something around that time mentally damaged him in ways that the 808's-MBDTF period just didn't. The fact that he's still artistically alive is amazing, because he's clearly personally fractured in ways that I think he senses but doesn't fully understand.
