I think we can all agree Caslon was at his posting peak before his 1st post. Read the thread before anyone tries to argue with me!!

if we dont count trap as an undergenre of hip hop then sure

no1 can agree on the straight definition of the terms either way

I didn't listen to rap in 2000 (I was 8) so I didn't experience how popular it was back then. Relistening afterwards I totally prefer the era @M Solo mentioned but thats not the question.

Right now its popular as f---. Look how many rap songs are popular and on top of that, look how many pop stars have rappers on their songs (coldplay, kate perry etc etc) that are popular as f---.

I hope the trap trend ends as soon as possible, I'm sick of it, but it kinda depends on what replaces it.

i worry about what would come after this tbh, cause this trend has kind of taken over most of hip hop, with no signs of slowing down... so I hope the next stage of hip hop isn't just building off the current sound, and goes back to basics a bit

every time hip hop takes a new turn it goes the exact opposite way ppl expect it to

but the difference now is its the most popular and established genre, so idk if the new avant garde wave who wants to disrupt the status quo wants to fly the hip hop banner

then again the music channels are different now, and theres no real in and out of hip hop anymore, its sort of become a universal language for any1 to adopt. and thats a first. whats gnna be the new reactionary wave to the "new" atl scene? are there gnna be any contrarians to it?

Thats exactly the problem, not just in our countries. You got a bunch of rappers making good music in a genre and everybody does it to get popular
