Aug 22, 2017 My top 20 goes something like MBDTF, Yeezus, 808's, CD, TLOP, LR, and then Graduation Good job OP
Aug 22, 2017 [paste:font size="5"]Intro Aight straight up here are my favorite rap albums oat as of right now. Rap is pretty much the only genre I listen to as of now, so this would pretty much be my favorite albums of all time list too, might add Lemonade in though cuz that was dope. So here are #20-11. #20: YG- Still Brazy[/paste:font] This is one of two albums that came out last year on this list. I really enjoyed this album overall, and it’s just something I can throw on at almost anytime. Not much more to say on it, it’s not a GOAT, but it’s a pretty great album and enough to make #20. #19: Dr. Dre- The Chronic Classic. The production on it is really great, and it has some of the best songs of all time on it. It just has too much filler to get any higher on the list. #18: Dr. Dre- 2001 The other Dr. Dre classic made the list. Just like Chronic if this had the fat trimmed off it it could be in the top 10, easy. The first half is absolutely amazing, second half really brings it down though. Still a great one. #17: Kanye West- Graduation This one is another really great solid project. It’s definantly not the best Ye project (spoiler alert for the rest of the list, you’ll be seeing more of him) but it is still a great project, and maybe Ye’s easiest album to just throw on at any time. It gets a lot of rotation which makes it on the list for me. #16: The Game- The Documentary 2.5 This one got slept on hardcore in my opinion. I didn’t think The Documentary 2 was that good straight up. It was a 6-7/10 album, this on the other hand is a great project. The West Coast feel to the whole thing just really appeals to me, and if you haven’t heard it give it a listen, it’s my second favorite album from 2015. #15: Clipping- CLPPNG First off this album has Get Up which is like one of my favorite songs ever. As for the rest of the album, it’s a really great industrial hip hop album that is the perfect middleground between something like Death Grips and traditional hip hop. Really great album, don’t think this is just some Death Grips stuff if you don’t like them, give it a listen its much more accessible than that. #14: Kanye West- The College Dropout Such an amazing album brought back by 8 annoying skits (sorry mates, the skits on this album are not good, Late Registration had good skits, this one doesn’t), and a few filler tracks. Even with those being in place, I still believe this to be an absolutely top quality album, that deserves to be #14 on this list because of how amazing some of the other songs on here are (All Falls Down, Spaceship, Two Words, We Don’t care). #13: Run The Jewels- Run The Jewels 2 Hard as f---. Hard as f--- production, Hard as f--- rhymes, Hard as f--- flows. This album is the definition of bumps in the whip. I got nothing more to say. #12: Chance The Rapper- Coloring Book Okay technically this isn’t an album, but I don’t f---ing care mate it’s litterally an album in everything but name- this isn’t something like Dedication 2 where it obviously has that mixtape vibe to it. If this wasn’t called a mixtape and was just called an album that wasn’t avalible for purchase you b------s would treat it the same way you do TLOP. That rant aside, great album, really dug the whole gospel theme of it and can’t wait to see Chance live in October. #11:Eminem- The Eminem Show Superb stuff! Here Em matures up from the Marshal Mathers LP (before popping so many pills he de-matured to a 3rd Grader on Encore) and gets more personal, while still keeping all of his Slim Shady rhymes in tact. Vintage Em right here.
Aug 22, 2017 Call me Vince Staples but I don’t really listen to too much 90s stuff. I dig some of the G Funk stuff, but can’t get into the East Coast scene at that time. Also looking at my full list (I wrote all 20 out before I did this) theres only one album from the last 3 years in the top 10, most of the stuff in the top 10 is 2003-2008. Also I didn’t really get into listening to full albums until about a year ago so thats also a reason that some older stuff is missing, just cause I haven’t listened to a lot of it.
