    The good with strict parents is that they keep you grounded and humble, passing on their values and morals.

    The bad with strict parents is the over-protectiveness and curtailing of independent growth if they don't let go as soon as their children grow into adults.

    Of course though it's always a case by case basis.

    My parents were strict for the most part, but they were lax on some things. Up until I was around 13 or so I got my a--- beat and caught all types of backhands. They held me to a higher standard and I'm glad they did.

    My parents are far from strict. I've always thought having strict parents can be good or bad depending on what. I knew people that have really protective parents that really dont let them experience the real world. But theres some that could also put their children on the right path.

    I got a strict mum but it's more so cultural and because I have a disability that she feels like it's an obligation to protect/put me in cotton wool sometimes.

    Gotta roll with it in my case.

    My mom was quite strict when i was younger, but now that im older she really isn't as we have this mutual trust.
    Also to op, theres quite a difference between a strict parent and a narcissistic person. Your case could possibly be the latter

    Depends on what aspects I guess. Imo most important is that they try to raise you as a good person and not a scumbag (as far as they can of course).

    My parents were not so strict when it comes to things like going out, curfews etc though.
