the u.s. needs to do something radical about its gun problem. i don't care what your ideology is. the numbers (in their raw form and especially when compared to other countries) are irrefutable.

can you imagine anything more cowardly than shooting at people with a machine gun from a quarter-mile away?

There can't be its too late, gun restrictions could be enforced though. I could go pick up a semi-automatic rifle for less than 1k without a permit, today. Anybody can, that's not good.

You’d have thought Columbine & Sandy Hook etc would’ve at least initiated some sort of change in the laws for the better

It would take a while to impose properly, but needless to say it’d be worth it. One look at the stats and you can see where the problem lies

Just because it's in the constitution people take it to heart, but there weren't mass shootings from lunatics hundreds of years ago.

There's also an amendment that says soldiers can't forcefully stay in your home, when would something like that ever be relevant today.

Politicians aren't concern with a little death toll of 40 to 50 people. At least not enough to do something as drastic as change a constitutional right like the right to bear arms.

It isn’t just 40-50 people though — it’s thousands over the years. At a f---ing school as well with children being the victims. That’s enough for change. Wouldn’t call it drastic by any means.

Exactly assault rifles weren't even a thing until the 50's, Congress can ratify to amend parts of the constitution, its not like its some holy document. It's been changed before it'll be changed again.

When signing the constitution I doubt Washington was concerned about someone walking into their local market with a musket shooting people is what I'm saying. You can't apply two hundred year old logic to modern society.

i hear you, but check this: a baby is born every 8 seconds, someone dies every 11 seconds. human life is not the issue when you think about the rate we are being reproduced and dying. I might be talking from the hip on this, but i bet you there's some silly a--- politicians that look and study these numbers and think, "well if we're only losing a few thousand over the years, does it really warrant a constitutional change?"

Yeah that's ridiculous. No one needs guns like that, but the gun this guy had was an automatic which is illegal to buy anywhere.
